Re: Max temp for Corydoras habrosus
I’m keeping mine at around 24.5’C / 76’F and they trigger with spawns with 30% water changes that are pretty fast and 5’C lower. I was interested in comparing other water parameters as I’m fair success with the following and wondered how it compares to your own aquarium water: TDS 80-100ppm GH 6 KH 2 ...

Re: Corydoras Eques setup
They look amazing MissNoodle!
You've inspired me to setup a new dedicated tank for some of these.
Btw, what are you feeding these little guys?
Hopefully you see some eggs very soon!

Re: Do snails eat cory eggs?
Thanks Eric that makes me feel a lot better, especially after reading the article you referenced and also the fact that Planorbus are almost impossible to get rid of once you have them. So far this evening, I've observed that the infertile/fungussy (is that a real word?) eggs are being eaten and the ...

Do snails eat cory eggs?
Hi guys, I seem to have accidentally introduced some of those mini flat ramshorn snails (via plants) into some of my Cory breeding tanks and wondered if I should be concerned about eggs being eaten. I know snails can be good for a tank and can be controlled by the amount of food in the tank but ...

Re: Corydoras Pygmaeus water paramters
Thanks Bas Pels and Darrel for sharing your experience and perspectives on this. I'm really glad to have asked this now as it has definitely turned me off going down the CO2 route, which now confirms my worries about what effects on the water parameters and especially the fish this can have. Thanks ...

Re: Corydoras Pygmaeus water paramters
Hi Darrel, I've been spending a lot of time based on your previous advice, especially in terms of using the water conductivity as the primary factor for getting my water conditions right. Sadly I realised that my TDS meter was giving some very inconsistent results and hence why I think you ...

Re: Raising Corydoras fry in bare bottom tanks
Looks like everyone agrees a thin, fine sand bottom is the way to go for babies.
I'll be adding some almond leaves and plenty of plants so now I just need to make sure I get the London tap / RO mix right and will give the tanks a month or so to mature.
Thanks again guys for the support.
Cheers,
Sam

Re: Raising Corydoras fry in bare bottom tanks
Thanks guys for the guidance on this. I think it is pretty clear consensus that having some substrate have a lot of advantages so I will go for this option too. Darrel those articles were really useful, thanks for pointing me to those! Bas Pel I didn't even consider the implications of creating an ...

Raising Corydoras fry in bare bottom tanks
Hi guys, apologies if this topic has been discussed previously but I'm eager to get people's views and experience on raising corydoras fry in tanks with bare bottoms vs sand substrate. I am in the process of setting up a bank of aquariums that I will house and condition a small group of either ...

Re: Corydoras Pygmaeus water paramters
Yeah i agree in terms of the NO3 and other nitrates, I've learned the hard way that Pygmy's can definitely be sensitive to those and I've lost a whole colony previously as a result of even moderate concentrations. Nothing beats crystal clean water and I keep an eye out for any signs of algae ...

Re: Corydoras Pygmaeus water paramters
Thanks Darrel. I've included a pic of the tank in question (the one on the right) where there are around a dozen Pygmy's. IMG_0940.jpg By the sound of things you are suggesting my water is a bit low on the carbonate and PH for these guys, which isn't a problem since my London tapwater is hard as a ...

Corydoras Pygmaeus water paramters
Hi guys, I looking for thoughts on whether my water parameters would be suitable for Corydoras Pygmaeus, so that they would be super healthy and also provide good conditions for breeding. Water parameters are: - Temperature: 25'C - KH: 2-3 'dKH - GH: 8-9 'dGH - PH: 6.2 - NH4/NO2/NO3: All close to ...
