I keep mine with a dorado. As long as the cat doesn't think the tankmates will fit in his mouth, you should be OK. Notice I said "think" and not actually fit. Sometimes their eyes are larger than their stomachs!

I recently experienced this same thing. I was given a couple of nice pcs. of driftwood from a co-worker who had left the hobby but still had his tank sitting there.
