Re: Sick Syno help pls
S Eupterus 10 years old. Went out of town for a week, came back to this. Massive loss of pigmentation, no fuzz or obvious fungus, seems listless and having trouble maintaining balance. Rest of fish are fine. Any ideas as to what this may be???? Any tankmates that can beat this synodontis to a pulp ...

Amblyceps mangois with belly full of eggs
Hello all. I have been keeping this particular group of 4 Amblyceps mangois since February. Today I noticed that one of them had eggs in her belly. I had one Amblyceps that had eggs but unfortunately jumped out, but this one is in a secure tank. So... now what? Do I leave them to their devices? Have ...

Re: Pachypterus atherinoides behaviour
Adult P. atherinoides have the strongly projecting upper jaw and exposed teeth you see in P. khavalchor , which led me to think that all Pachypterus are scale-eaters. I feel like lepidophagy would not be as bothersome in the wild as the victims would just be passing by and inconvenienced only for a ...

Re: My Public Aquarium: exhibit blues - how to make them?
Wow, would love to see updates on the Amur cats and the Phalacronotus cats, the Phalacronotus seems to have grown considerably, and judging by their stomachs, are hearty eaters. The hi-fin looks awesome aswell. Being in a tropical country all I see in LFS are dead hi-fins or very emaciated hi-fins ...

Pachypterus atherinoides behaviour
Hi all. I recently got 6 Pachypterus atherinoides . They are interesting little buggers for sure, currently around the 2inch mark. They are in a 15 gallon quarantine, and started eating sinking pellets from day one. Seeing their feeding behaviour, I was thankful these weren't Pachypterus khavalchor ...

Re: Syno hybrid possible parent ID please
I fail to see much difference between your syno and a usual eupterus baby/juvi, e.g. as this one from Cat-eLog https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/image.php?species=synodontis_eupterus&image_id=1576 Baby eupterus differ from the spotty patterns of older fish. They have stripey, squiggly pattern ...

Syno hybrid possible parent ID please
I bought this fish labelled as eupterus but it clearly is not. I am most certain it is a eupterus hybrid of sorts, but please ID both the parents of the hybrid so that I know what I am dealing with. This fish is 2inch TL.

Re: Catfish-Only Community Tank
I thought it would be cool to have a catfish-only community tank. The fish are housed in a 29-gallon with live plants and sand as a substrate. External filter, air stone, heater, and a LED tank hood with blue nightlight. I've had it for a year and it seems to be doing okay. pH is on the hard side ...

Re: Ompok pabo husbandry
Long time no update, the bigger bully Ompok lives on after bullying the other to its death during a period when I was out of station and the lights were off for a couple of days. The cat lives with a Garra sp, and some Channa gachua. There were some Lepidocephalichthys loaches I added with the ...

Re: Dwarf moth/stonecat tank?
No matter what decor you give they'll choose a hiding place to their own liking.Sometimes they can even bury under the substrate. Add a big group, also they are very much dependent on live foods.

Re: Ompok pabo husbandry
Update on the cat: Both the Ompoks and a Mystus gulio came down with what I believe to be a bacterial infection. They survived the ordeal, and I was out of station for a couple of days, so ofcourse any mishap would have to happen on those days, and sure enough, the bigger one bullied the smaller one ...

Ompok catfish infection?
After I reeleased a Mystus gulio in my main tank, everything seemed fine. I finished the copper treatment in the main tank and added a dewormer (albendazole). From the next day, all of my cats stopped eating. I thought it was due to the Mystus, who up to this point had recovered beautifully ...

Re: Mystus gulio info
I've kept a few Mystus long time ago, I think mysteticus or bimaculatus or some such. Not gulio. I don't recall them giving me any problems in a heavily scaped and populated tank with very diverse tank mates, most of them smaller to medium catfish. Almost any catfish, including Mystus, would prey ...

Re: Ompok pabo husbandry
Tried giving them bloodworms. The bigger one took them immediately, but the smaller one is still skeptical of it. I am not sure if any bullying persists, but they lay side by side when the lights are on. They haven't grown even a little bit but perhaps I'm expecting too much from such slow growers ...

Re: Ompok pabo husbandry
AFC are much easier to do from photographs! Jools They have been hard to photograph even immediately after I switch on the lights due to some driftwoods always obstructing some part of their body unless I can get them to come sit right in front of the tank. Unless I am counting on luck, leaning a ...

Re: Ompok pabo husbandry
Interesting. Thank you. As Jools says, how have you convinced yourself of the species ID? I looked through your posts, and I saw that Ompok sp are slow growers? That answers one of my questions. Well, the fish are from either Northern West Bengal or Assam, So it's probably not Ompok malabaricus ...

Thank you all for the replies. I have scoured this site and the internet in general for the husbandry of O.pabo, but it is largely known as a food fish in its native range, so there is little to no info on this genera, let alone on this particular species. As for the couple I have, rhey measure 15cm ...

Behavioral differences in pseudolaguvia
Hi all I have been keeping pseudos for the past few years. By far my absolute favourites are Pseudolaguvia shawi . I have noticed differences in behaviours among many species of pseudolaguvia . Re: odd protrusions on erethistes
On another note, I lost a perfectly healthy pseudolaguvia ferula before the lockdown, and it was quite likely gravid, so i thought it was egg bound. Then i lost a pseudolaguvia riberoi whose sides had been blown up like helium balloons and it failed to keep balance. This is exactly why I am pretty ...
