Re: L128 sexing
So do females never have any odontodes, or do they just have less developed odontodes? I have one that was the sole L128 in its tank for a long time and is shaped slightly differently than the other I have that is definitely a big male who thinks he's a stud but looks absolutely absurd swimming ...

Re: "New Ranger" or "Mini Ranger" plecos?
https://www.aqua-imports.com/shop/product/new-ranger-pleco-pterygoplichthys-sp/ That was the only info I could find that looked similar to my distributor's info. That fish looks very similar to mine, but has a different tail (tail is rounded on mine). I have my share of big tanks and can house large ...

"New Ranger" or "Mini Ranger" plecos?
I came across a small, interestingly patterned, "mini ranger" pleco at the 2018 CatCon. I didn't buy them at that time because I didn't know anything about them and had just blown my savings on vet bills for a dog. I stumbled across a few over the weekend and brought them home. I can't find much (if ...

Re: What type of Pleco?
I think it's Leporacanthicus cf_galaxias(l240) . Honestly, from your photos, the body looks too long and slender for L240 and reminds me more of Scobinancistrus cf_pariolispos . But from what I see of the mouth, I'm going with L240. Cheers, Eric That mouth is dead on. Could be any of "cf. galaxius ...

Re: What type of Pleco?
The body is sort of long and slender with a snout so long it looks distorted. Checking that L number now.

What type of Pleco?
A friend of mine got this as an L128 in a batch of 2" juvies years ago. He thought it was a female 128, and gave it to 7s to pair with our Male. It is definitely not. I thought maybe "black phantom" but the mouth is not at all right. It has a droopy bristly front and 1 whisker on each side. 20190707 ...

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"
Unfortunately we had a crazy past two weeks, weather wise. Temperatures dropped unseasonably low for a week then shot up 20 degrees and stayed there. While they're in the lower level of the house, I think the big swing was just too much for them. We lost all 3 over the course of 24 hours with little ...

They go bonkers for mosquito larvae, too. These guys are still going strong... fingers crossed that they make it through the summer.

Somehow or another, it turns out that these fry are Madagascar rainbows. LOL! A nice find, but I really don't remember putting anything from my husband's tank in this tank.

Re: Hyalobagrus flavus
So... I have a tank with a bunch of fry and it'll be some time before I can really tell what they are. The fry likely came from moss. The moss came from 2 different community tanks, both of which have very happy populations of these guys. Whatever the fry are, if they're from either of those tanks ...

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"
Very nice!! What krill pellets are these? Aquacarium/YourFishStuff brand. There are a few other varieties out there, both in European and American markets. There's one that's a black bag with a red and black label and has krill and squid meal. I like that pellet size better, but I can't ever ...

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"
So far, so good with these guys. They seem to love the occasional treat of blackworms and have started sampling some soft krill pellets when I drop those in. I'm also feeding white worms and grindal worms, plus working on getting a strong culture of scuds going to hopefully infest their tank with.

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"
Very nice tanks! Are you planning to add anything with the Glyptothorax ? I'll probably add at least some of my school of white clouds, which were in the tank prior to the remodel. It's reaching the time of year when most of them go outside in the pond. There's a chance I'll be able to get my hands ...

It sounds like yours was injured.
I have a Baryancistrus who has been doing this for years. Used to freak me out.

Re: Fokiensis "gecko cats"
I have a slim fan that's made to fit in a partially open window that I use for this purpose. I usually position it to pull air from the top of the room in the summer so cooler air should come in through the bottom.

Sorry for your fish ! I just found my 128 eat with big appetite raw potatoes so i have not problem with food anymore. Of course they have ever been eating flakes and tablets. Maybe you can find some new big 128 on market ? But yes decaying food is reason for death of yours - it makes bacterias ...

This looks like sepsis. The bloating is likely the result of an infection that's impacted the kidneys, which will cause an internal fluid buildup and results in a bloated appearance. I think the external stuff you're seeing is probably secondary to whatever the internal issue is. While my first ...

Below is a short tour of *most* of my display tanks (I did not spruce them up at all for this, sorry), with occasional piles of kids' toys and plenty of dog hair for good measure. ITdgmkQXkDI I also have a fishroom with tanks ranging from 5-40 gallons. All told, I think I've got 28 tanks. 9 ...
