Why does this post keep getting bots :(

Can Synodontis also get protein blisters like Corydoras sometimes do?

Re: Is it possible to spawn Synodontis contractus?

I managed to increase my group to 16! Although they are a bit pricey, I'm seeing if I can add 4 more.
Only 6 are close to adult size....the rest are barely 3 cm long! I guess this breeding project will take a bit of time to commence 🙂

Re: About Cephalocassis borneensis

I got 3 more but one sadly passed away. The remaining 3 are doing quite well...when they feed they really have that shark vibe! But when they are not feeding they usually chill near the surface, close to the water current...I thought they'd be more bottom oriented or swim in the middle column. They ...

Re: Is it possible to spawn Synodontis contractus?

It's been a while...Thank you everyone for the replies! I'm getting another 8 to bring the total up to 14...maybe more if my wallet allows it ;) I think I'll need a bit more time for them to reach spawning age...so I plan on growing them out first. I'll post details of my planned breeding setup too ...

A rare opportunity to keep a fresh water Arid. And if they look a bit similar to the well known species, they mus be beautiful. I'm a bit anvious I'm unfamiliar with the family in general so I am not sure which species you are referring to? They have a mostly solid black body color...hopefully I'll ...

Ahhhh I see! Thank you. I think he was thinking they would be similar to Colombian sharks.
I went ahead and ordered the remaining 3....I hope someone can add their experiences from keeping them :)

About Cephalocassis borneensis

I guess this is a catfish that is very rarely kept in aquariums (but I guess....eaten often instead?) I have the opportunity to get 4...actually I already have 1 :d It seems to be doing well by itself, always on the move and eating well too but it's quite tiny (2") and I was wondering whether ...

https://youtu.be/25Vj4Ky-J98 Have you ever checked this guy out, and now I know there's 2 different species here but they're both Synodontis, so this might be able to give you a ballpark starting point, and this guy gets pretty involved something I don't know that I would want to do but he does ...

Re: Is it possible to spawn Synodontis contractus?

They're also egg scatterers. Most catfishes that are bred in captivity are not. A substrate of large round gravel might help. I would also guess the fry will be tiny and so some thought on their first foods is needed. A "dirty" tank might help. It also depends on what else you're set up to breed or ...

Is it possible to spawn Synodontis contractus?

Hello, A very skiller importer here in South Korea regularly brings in wild Synodontis contractus , and they are quite popular due to their funny (And cute!) appearance, peaceful temperment and algae grazing characteristics. I have 6 of them, and I really love them. They aren't shy at all! Zipping ...

Thanks for all the replies guys! The dwarf chain loaches are rare here but I will look into them! Them and Anomalochromis thomasi! Small fish that snack on snails

Hello, are there any smallish (2"~3") fish that enjoy ramshorn snails as a snack? I know clown loaches and puffers, as well as cichlids in general will eat them but they grow too big/are too aggressive/have compatibility issues. Over here in South Korea the African butterfly cichlid Anomalochromis ...

Re: Can fish experience sudden explosive growth rates?

Neons are not the best schooling fishes. i have gotten them to school but it really only was when someone gave me about 100 of them and they were in a large tank, they only time they truly schooled was at feeding time and when they sensed a threat in a really big (long) 18 lb siamese cat who would ...

Re: Can fish experience sudden explosive growth rates?

With cichlids I have seen similar things, in case they are slightly smaller than they should be, they grow faster, untill this is corrected. Then growing continues normally. It is a feeling, not something I have prooven by taking measurements and so on. But after they are cought, neon tetras will ...

Hello all, I posted quite often about my catfish and I am happy to say they are all well. However I also always loved neon tetras but never had luck keeping them alive...so I made the leap again! Re: Aggressive ancistrus

When I first started out fish keeping I had to return a lone male Ancistrus to the store I purchased it from due to it being aggressive towards my other fish, as far as I remember it was the only catfish in the tank and was beating up some kribensis. Maybe it was because the tank was small - 64 ...

Aggressive ancistrus

Hello, I recently upgraded my catfish tank (cories, ancistrus, otos, hoplos) and most of the fish are enjoying the extra space. TOO well, in one case. I have 1 ancistrus male about 3 inches long, as well as 6 baby leucistic fry. After moving to bigger quarters, the big chunk is super aggressive ...

So...I attempted this combination with juveniles of both species (6cm for the hoplos, 1.5 cm for the cories) and I say they are doing well. Re: Weird question: Hiding blackworms

Hi Quokka, True, I save blackworms in the fridge in an open box with 2" water. But if you can't do that, then you can leave the worms in the bag, closed with a rubber band. Rinse the worms with fresh water when you first buy them, and leave the fish in the bag covered by at least 1/2" water (you do ...

Re: Do Megalechis thoracata school?

Happy to lucky cats which whilst don't actively school, do seem to "come together" quite often throughout the day. Fine with corys from panda size upwards. Groups of three or four or more seem more natural in my opinion. Often bought small before sexable but males do seem to get on ok providing ...
