What a great and informative thread. Congrats on your success and for an ingenious egg collecting method.

Re: Popeye Robustus cory
Strange, dead in less than a day. No other fish showing any symptoms still.

Popeye Robustus cory
Hello, I acquired a trio of Robustus corys about 7 months ago. I have not added any additional fish to this tank in that period. I noticed this morning that one of them has both eyes slightly bulged. (no abdominal swelling) Tank size 210 gal. Temp 77 PH 5.5 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10< No changes ...

Re: Amblydoras spawn
https://youtu.be/oUpMinvKmco Got a really short, sideways video of my Amblydoras spawning. Sorry for the crummy quality, not great with the video thing. You can see a handful of eggs fall as the embrace ends. They spawn pretty regularly, every water change, have for about six months. They eat their ...

Glad he's doing better. I've also been wondering how old they get. Does anyone have one older than 7 years?

Re: Platydoras Sp Shallow Scute
Rechecked their website. They actually list 2 size options, 7-8" or 9.5-12.5", they're not specific about SL or TL. I ordered the 7-8" size and while I didn't measure it before adding it to the tank if I hold a tape measure up to the front of the tank (not very accurate I know) it looks to be a ...

Re: Platydoras Sp Shallow Scute
Not sure if this fish came from the same place I got mine (I assume it did) but the vendor was offering wild-caught fish up to 12". The range offered was 8-12". Really happy with this species. A good medium-sized fish that stays small enough to be realistically kept by hobbyists, as opposed to the ...

Re: Corydoras water depth
Ok, thanks bekateen, It's been awhile since I kept corys, I guess I was remembering them as being a little shy to swim for the surface. Careful maybe. This is a mostly catfish tank, Hoplsternum littorale, Megalechis thoracata, Dianema urostriatum, Lepthoplosternum pectorale, Hassar orestis ...

Corydoras water depth
Is 30" too deep for sterbai corys?
I have no doubt they can swim up that far for air, guess I'm just wondering if they will be comfortable doing that? Most things I've read say they like shallow water but that seems kind of relative and unspecific.

Re: Amblydoras spawn
Eggs didn't hatch. Not sure if they were fertilized. The twelve I scooped out eventually turned yellow and fungused up. I'm open to any advice for the next batch I scoop out. I purchased an egg tumbler although I will have to figure out how it works, thoughts on that for these eggs? Meth blue ...

Re: Fisher's woodcats
Not sure what I'm looking for in this case, something like a livebearer? They all seem similar, just a plain anal fin.

Re: Amblydoras spawn
I see, thank you. I've had many cichlids spawn over the years but they take care of their eggs by themselves, I guess I have much to learn about these. Maybe a separate small tank I can put the eggs in. I'd read that these might be bubblenest builders but these fish don't seem to do that. Pretty ...

Fisher's woodcats
I purchased 5 Fisher's woodcats a few months back. They're about 4" now and none show the tall dorsal fin. Anyone know how old/big they are before the dorsal changes in the males? Wondering if I have a different species because none of mine seem to have changed yet, maybe they are too young though ...

Amblydoras spawn
My Amblydoras spawn pretty regularly, pretty much after every water change. I have 2 females and 3 males. The males usually eat most of the eggs but I scooped up about a dozen of them this last time and threw them in one of those livebearer net things that hang inside the tank. Wondering if anyone ...
