Albino BN Advice
So my first experience with albino bristlenose started about a year ago. I bought 7 juveniles online and put them in my 90 gallon cichlid/community tank. (Few cichlids but none that are agressive, the mostly concentrate on their digging) One grew very quickly and was twice the size of the others ...

CO2 and Planted Tank
Im hoping to start a 55g planted tank in the very near future. Ive got the tank, just need to make a stand and find a good place where the wife will let me put it. Anyway, I want to make it planted, with around a half dozen smaller (~6") pleco's and probably a school of threadfin rainbows. Do many ...

Interesting that most of what you guys say is that they are carnivores. The CAT-E-Log states that they are mostly herbivores but do like some meat. So are they eating meat because they prefer it over veggies and its less work, or are they actually mainly meat eaters? I think I read somewhere before ...

Feeding a Sultan
About two weeks ago I picked up a Sultan Pleco L-264. I was totally psyched because no stores near me carry anything other than your common, clown, or royal plecos. He immediately took up residence under a rock. Slowly he is getting braver and coming out of his hiding spot a little more each day at ...

Hoplo not eating
I recently purchased a small hoplo (2.5") for my 90 gallon tank. In it are 3 cichlids (2 Nics, 1 t-bar) and a bunch of tetras. The cichlids are nice, so far I havent seen any of them bother the new cat at all. I had one hoplo in the past and I remember him being crazy at feeding time, eating ...

Banjo Cat Behavior
I had one banjo in my tank for a while. I almost never saw him move. Most of the time he was stuck against the side of the tank mixed in amongst some fake plants that I had stuck there. I recently bought another banjo and what a difference. They actually seem to like being together. They have found ...

Weighing Down Veggies
Im sure this has been talked about, but Im interested in ways people get their veggies to stay on bottom.
I came up with a cheap plan that works well for me.
Im a fisherman, so I have some unpainted lead head jigs. I cut the hook off and whats left is the jig head which has a barb on it. This I can ...

Bristlenose Feeding Questions
I recently purchased 5 young albino bristlenose. What great algae eaters, they cleaned up my tank in no time. So then I started to feed them. Ive given them algae disks, cucumber, zucchini, and yellow squash. One of them has gotten huge but a couple have stayed small and gotten kind of thin. So on ...

Ideas for a 90
Id like some catfish ideas for my 90. Ive got 6 small central american cichlids in there now. I was hoping for a jaguar cat but Im finding them very tough to come by. There are a couple bumblebee cats at a store near me but I think my cichlids would fit into their mouths right now. Any ideas will be ...

Need Ideas
Hi all. Im in the process of rearranging the living room and am planning on buying a new tank. Probably it will be either a 75 or 90 (48"x18"). Id like to get a 60" long tank but not many are available. Anyway, Im a huge fan of lima shovelnose but they might get a little too large for the 75 or 90 ...

I havent seen mine eat for months either. I have a striped and a spotted. They have both wedged themselves between a piece of slate and the side of the tank, ones belly is usually pressed against the glass. Id swear they never leave except for that the do switch places now and then. I believe its my ...

Feeding Veggies
Ive noticed that most people feed their plecos vegetables from time to time. I took a piece of driftwood out of my tank recently and my clown pleco has been looking pretty hungry lately. (the driftwood will be returning very soon, its soaking) I understand that you have to blanch veggies first but I ...

Lima Shovelnose
So I see that shovelnose have been the hot topic here as of late. But Im planning on getting a new tank soon and would like to get one or two limas. I looked on this website and under the profile of lima, it says that 3 would do well in a 55 gallon. But when it was catfish of the month, it says that ...
