Re: L168 Sexing delemma with update!!!

Awesome work! I've had a few spawns recently which have failed and witnessed a couple where the eggs were being laid... and it's interesting that the male doesn't neccessarily trap the female like other species such as Hypans and Panaqolus.... rather the female "traps" the male in the cave or in the ...

Re: L168/L052 now Dekeyseria Picta fry

UPDATE: Fry died from unknown causes and I have since moved house and tank two months ago and divided into two sections housing 2m2f and 3m2f. I have just come home to a fresh spawn with female to potentially lay more eggs. This is the section of the lastest spawning. New tank.jpg Spawning happening ...

Re: L168/L052 now Dekeyseria Picta fry

one more question How big are your caves? All good mate - ask away. I have a bunch of caves in the tank with which they've spawned in, plus I've had a male spawn underneath a rock between two caves a couple times. The caves I have are LxWxH: - Triangle 18cm x 5cm x 5cm - Rectangle 15cm x 4cm x 3cm ...

I've never tested my parameters but I keep them at 25 +- 0.3 degrees celsius. Planning on raising the tank to about 27 degrees in the coming months.

L168/L052 now Dekeyseria Picta fry

After many many failed spawns and clutches being eaten, I have finally (after almost 2 years) been able to raise some fry - all my males seem to be useless at hatching eggs and raising the fry themselves. Fry are about 3 weeks old. Photos are attached - sorry for average quality. IMG20190323154423 ...

Re: L168 Sexing delemma

Hi,

I think you have either 4m2f or 3m3f from my experience.

I do agree that females do tend to get a couple odontodes at the ends of the pectoral fins but never further up towards the body or as long.

Cheers,
Jessie

Re: Redescription of Dekeyseria picta (Siluriformes; Loricariidae)

Thanks for the response guys. I think it would be best to seperate them even if they are the same. You do make a good point Eric about losing there uniqueness.

Cheers Jessie.

Re: Redescription of Dekeyseria picta (Siluriformes; Loricariidae)

Hi,

So Dekeyseria sp 052 and Dekeyseria Brachyura are the same fish, just different collection points?

I am lead to believe I have 052 and 168 currently, is it safe to breed the two together or best to seperate?

Thanks,
Jessie.
