My "juvenile Ancistrus punctatus", is 3" (7,5cm), it could be juvenile at this size?

Really???
But they appear very similar... just the end of caudal and dorsal fins have a small difference in color.
But on the pic. #1, the female was stressed a little, therefore it had not taken its true colors

I have buy the first fish as "L059" but i think is L279

Question: Bristles on the noze

Hello!
I'm a newbies in Locaridae, and i would to know in what the bristles are useful on the nose of the ancistrus (male)?
It is like the other species where the male is more coloful, or it has larger fins, etc ...?
Or it's maybe like cat's mustaches, to give their gauge when it enters a tunnel ...
