Re: Sturisomatichthys spawn

I have my pair of Sturisomatichthys aureus in a 180litres tank, 100x60x30 cm. I don't take out the eggs nor the fry. I have the lights on 24/7 to keep the tank with algea, im on the third spawn since December. The male is now on his fourth round with eggs, and the first round is passed critical size ...

I'm gettin'em from a shop that is shutting down, so i don't know to much yet. But i just came home from two talks tonight, were i learned a few more things about them. Most likely captive bred.

Even so, from your photo it appears your fish has two rows of abdominal scutes, although I wouldn't bet anything on it.

Cheers, Eric

This is my first ever Lamontichthys, don't know how similar they are to each others. I did even have a look at the L. sp. Columbia. Seems like that the L. stibaros has a taller dorsal, or pointier if you will. Dunno 🤔

I have some fry that seems to make it, but not close to the amount of eggs. Will try a different approach on the next batch.

They are dropping eggs every 14th day or so. Haven't had chance to save them all. But I'll try to save them on a regular basis from now.
