Rehoming plecos and cories - Brooklyn NY
Hi I havent been here in a while. Im Christie. Im looking to rehome my 3 plecos and maybe my cories as well. Nothing special about them, but they are special to me. My "older" common pleco has been with me since Nov 2004 and came with me from California when I moved to NY. I've had my albino pleco ...

Re: Please ID what looks like a Snakeskin body
Raz, Is there any chance you can take better pictures? I think Mats posted a very good list (above) of several fish that really look like your fish but better pictures would definitely help ID it! I didnt get to see the picture of when it was younger either, but I had something similar happening to ...

Re: Who has been to, visited, or lives in Brazil?
There are about 100 things to like about Brazil and probably another 100 to hate about it, too. Depending on where you go, you will find different things to like (and again, to hate!), so I would say that the diversity of the country is what has always interested me the most.

Not only is your tank absolutely beautiful, but also your pictures are fantastic!! do you mind sharing what camera and settings you used to shoot these photos?
Re: Plants
Hi, I think the extra caution with moss balls is always worth it since there's such a large hollow interior. If I want to move one of mine, I squeeze and rinse and squeeze and rinse like a sponge. They hold A LOT of water. You said Java Moss balls so I don't really know if those have hollow ...
Re: Plants
Amazed would be the best way to characterize my post. There is nothing present to harm your tank. The plants do not absorb the Chlorine. I don't understand not putting the plants back where they can recover from the stressful exposure to bleach ASAP. and i don't understand why the fact of me being ...
Re: Plants
It only takes minutes to neutralize the residual bleach that you are imagining is still present. Don't you "Get It"? uh i really "didn't get" the very last part of your post. it "sounded" a bit aggressive. however, i'm not sure because it's really hard to determine the "tone" of any post on the ...
Re: Plants
Thanks guys!
I let the water run for about 5 minutes then I put it in a clear jar with dechlorinated by the window as suggested. I'm going to wait a few days to add it to the tank.

Re: Plants
Well I did what Hitch suggested and used bleach at a rate of 20:1, but now I'm worried it might kill my fish
I placed the moss ball in a plastic container under running water to make sure I rinse all the bleach off but would it be enough? How can I make sure?

Re: ID's of fish from pet store...
So I went back there. The guy told me the 3 fish in that tank are not for sale because they are "babies". They will be ready for sale in 3 weeks. Anyway, I asked him what kind of pl*cos they were and he said the one I posted a picture before (pic #5) is a snow ball pl*eco, the one I havent posted ...
Plants
Does anyone know or maybe point out some literature about how to treat plants before placing them into the tank? I got a Java moss ball today and I want to make sure it doesnt have any disease...
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: Rubbernose or Blonde Bulldog pl*co (L187b)?
I understand how hard it is to identify these fish without knowing some of their background, but don't they a lot of times change their pattern/colors (in reference to the lack of "freckles") as they mature? an example of this should be my L147. When I first got it, 4 years ago, I posted a picture ...

Re: ID's of fish from pet store...
I understand where you are coming from re: the Rineloricaria, but it doesn't look like it stands much of a chance with the damage done, and without knowing what caused it, you could just be transferring something nasty to your tanks, so as hard as it may be, I'd suggest you avoid doing that. It's ...

ID's of fish from pet store...
So, I went to this pet store... needless to say I was disgusted by how the fish were being treated. One of them had so much fungus growing on his back and his respiration was so rapid... I felt like taking the guy just so that he would die in a better place... seriously. So, what are these? Pictures ...

Thanks!
I've been giving him everything I give all my fish. Processed food (flakes, pellets), live bloodworms, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, spirulina, algae wafers, and veggies and fruits (cucumber, yellow squash, butternut squash, oranges, apples, etc)
Any idea whether it's a male or female?

Thanks Silurus!
I got this guy a while ago, it was being sold as a "rubbernose pl*co". i'd never thought about id'ing it here and all of a sudden it hit me. So I checked out the catalog and found it more similar to L187b.
