Thanks Yann, I did a water change on the tank about an hour ago. 40%. I have removed the convicts out of that tank. Hopefully he will make it through the stress of losing an eye. I think the main problem was just too many convicts in the tank. The bristlenose is still roaming the tank looking for ...

help please! missing eye

I was about to feed my pink convict fry this morning and noticed the bristlenose they share a tank with is missing an eye  . Does it need any treatment to heal the wound? Just keep the water super clean? I plan to remove all but one or two of the fry today. Do you all think he will make it? I ...

No damage being done to either of the fish. One just keeps the other run off of the substrate(up on the glass or on the filter intake). Both plecos still greedily eat their algae disc, so I guess everything will be alright. Thanks for the reassurance. :)

Well no luck with rearranging the decorations. My C. thomsoni is still bullying all the other bottom dwellers. Including the C. milesi.

pleco fighting

I have a chaetostoma cf. thomsoni and a chaetostoma milesi in a 25 gallon tank. The dimensions are 24 in by 12 in. They have been living happily in this tank for 5 or 6 months. Each one staying on his own end of the tank. Here recently the thomsoni has been venturing into the other end of the tank ...

Have you ever had any issues with the fish making a mess eating veggies, cloudy water? Or anything like that.

food for my plecos?

Let me start by saying this place is awesome. I never knew there were so many different kinds of catfish for the aquarium. I currently have 2 bristlenose plecos, 1 Chaetostoma cf. Thomsoni, and 1 Chaetostoma milesi. They readily eat algea discs, shrimp pellets, and any flake that manages to make it ...

Hi Dave,

The Chaetostoma thomsoni is most likely the fish they had at the store. Thanks for the help in identifying it.

Hi, I am new here

I seen a fish at my LFS that they called an Alvino pleco. I looked through the catalog here but was unable to find this "common" name in the list. If anyone knows what kind of pleco this might be could you please point me in the right direction to find some info on this fish? Thank you in advance ...
