I just wanted to post an update. All four of my Orange-banded catfish are doing great! :D I have seen all four alive and well. No fungus at all. I was feeding live blood worms, but I don't think the catfish were eating any. I think my other fish were getting to them first. However they seem to be ...

I believe they were 4.99 each. Thanks for all of the help. I really appreciate it. Hopefully they will do ok. I will definitely keep up on water quality for them. I will also try out some live foods. but some detective work with a flashlight in the dark (the only time you'll get to see them closely ...

Orange-banded catfish?
I found a new little wonder. My husband works in a pet store, he has been telling me about these Orange-banded catfish. We bought four of them today. They didn't have a scientific name for them. They are supposed to grow to 2 1/2 inches long. They burrow in the gravel. I'm unsure of how to feed them ...

I have a question regarding a possible different name of a catfish that I was admiring. I just got "The World of Catfishes" book. I saw a picture of Pelteobagrus ornatus in the book, but I can not find any info on-line or on this web site. Is it possible that this particular catfish has a different ...

How Cories eat
When cories eat, is it normal for the food to come back out of their gills?
I read something about some one with a few cories and he fed them black worms, and when the cories ate them, the worms came out of their gills. The cories still kept trying to eat them.
Is this at all normal?

All I really know is..... Shortly after I got them home in January, they crawled into a cave and built a wall infront of it. I bought a bigger rock, both catfish made it their home. In late February, I lifted the rock to find fry. They looked alot like tadpoles. Less than a week later the fry started ...

Earlier you had asked about using my breeding account for something. I'd love to contribute, but unfortunatly I know very little about why it happened. I don't know what set them off, or how to do it again. I am going to be moving them into their own tank soon, after the fry grow-up, so that I can ...

Thank-you Silurus. I know I'm being difficult, but I just really want to be sure. So, why are barbels the least reliable characteristic used in distinguishing catfishes? (especially in Anaspidoglanis) What is the most reliable? Th pictures for A.macrostoma, on this site look different. The head shot ...

The pics for A. macrostoma look nothing like my catfish though. The faces are different. This is why I am still confused. The pics on this site for A. macrostoma look nothing like my catfish. Is there a possibility that they might just be something different than either one? I'm no expert, and I ...

I know these pics have been posted here before. I have these catfish, that I bought. The pet store called them African spotted catfish. I have been told that they are Anaspidoglanis macrostoma. I have looked at pictures of this fish, and they look nothing like mine. The alternative was they were ...

Silurus>I'll try for a picture from the top of it's head. SG_Eurystomus>Currently the babies are eating baby brine shrimp in small amounts, 3 times a day. They are eating well. Some People had wanted to see a larger picture of my catfish. This is the best my camara can do. I believe it is either Anaspidoglanis macrostoma, or Parauchenoglanis guttatus. OK...I'm pretty sure you are all going to scream at me now, but here goes: I had the divider in my tank, to keep my Bettas from messing with the babies. The babies became free swimming, and were getting through the sides. I have removed the babies to a fry tank. I have baby brine shrimp to feed them ...

Little ones with parents
I had the previous post (shock babies). Both parents are still in with the fry. One parent is still under the rock, and the other parent is just out. Two of the fry are moving around now, so should I remove the parent that is not under the rock? I fear he might accidently or even on purpose eat the ...

One of the babies has come out from under the rock. It is no more than 1/4 inch long. It has an egg sack attached to it. I want to put it back under the rock, but my husband says it might be too much shock, and he's says I should just let it be. :?: It's moving around. It is too big to fit ...
