Re: Chiloglanis pretoriae setup and tankmates

That is great news \M/ Did you manage to get the Chiloglanis on video, by any chance? :ymblushing: Hi Tanganyikafreak. I was actually considering taking a video this morning while they were feeding :d. I will hardly be at home for the next few days but I will try, although I am not sure if the ...

Re: Chiloglanis pretoriae setup and tankmates

Just an update to this post as it maybe useful for others. I decided against adding the loricariids as there was already quite a bit of intra-specific aggression amongst the Chiloglanis , especially during feeding. While they are small fish, they appear to be quite territorial. However, I did add 4 ...

They are also the most common Hemiloricaria in the trade.

Re: Please confirm if this Hemiloricaria parva

Thanks for your advice Shane. I noticed that Hemiloricaria eigenmanni has numerous spots/pigmentation on the abdominal surface and banding on the ventral surface of the tail, which my specimen lacks. Nevertheless, as you recommended, I examined the banding on the dorsal and caudal fins, and after ...

Re: Is this a Clarias ngamensis?

Hi. I would say that it's not ngamensis based on the lack of an adipose fine (from what I can see in the photograph). Ideally one would also need to examine the vomerine toothpad. In ngamensis it is relatively deep, generally ovoid in shape and possesses blunt teeth.

Please confirm if this Hemiloricaria parva

Hi all If possible, please could someone confirm if the species I purchased is Hemiloricaria parva . It is approximately 80 mm SL and the colouration is a mottled brown if this helps. Unfortunately, the LFS only had this single specimen in stock but I have requested from them to order more for me ...

Re: Clarias gariepinus

Thanks for the post and the cool picture Chilo-glanis - Sure, no problem :-BD . I have noticed geographical and size-class variation in colouring and/or pigmentation but colouring also varies according to turbidity, although this is not an issue in aquariums. Good luck if you do end up getting them ...

Bivane River

Thanks for sharing - at least one of these species is not in the database, may we use your photo to represent it?
Sure, not a problem. Which species is it and do you need me to send you the file?
