I don't understand. The fish that I believe to be the male, spooked and left while the one I think is female has stayed in the cave.

Since I haven't seen any dead plecos, nor any eaten areas of the apricot, I must surmise that they can sense in some fashion, as Darrel points out- some negative attribute of the apricot wood.

I have four pleco tanks. two are heavier into wood eaters. All have green pomegranate wood and a small amount of apricot wood. I have both forms of L200 and have never seen the High Fins eat worms when offered. For them, I rotate squash, dried (non-sulfered) mango slices, algae spirolina tablets, Repashy Superfoods Soilent Green Gel, Repashy Super Green, sweet potatoe slices, etc. -Barry
