Hi I always try to keep nuggets at high temps when I first receive them. For some reason they are among the worst plecs for catching whitespot. They usually survive if treated promptly with a suitable medication. Bear in mind they are starved before shipping and this unfortunately does stress them ...

Hi .Ii have not thought about this before but yes plecs could over time damage the surface of the acrylic, thus causing misting. Although this would not cause failure of the tank , I do beleive more frequent mop polishing on the inside of the tank would be required. On a more important note. The lge ...

Hi there . I have owned a S Granulosus now for over a year, he was in a very bad state when received and had to be nursed back to full health. I would not part with him for less than £400 either has they are very expensive to buy in the UK and he is a pet fish (one of the problems when you own a s ...

Hi Oxytetracycline works very well on this condition in liquid form sprayed directly onto food. It does have its problems though so keep doing frequent water changes as your filter bac will be nuked and dont overdose. Bigger fish can be given smashed tablets with there food. Unfortunately catfish ...

Smaller specimens of this family usually feed frequently, hence the growth rate. But as they mature they usually slow down a bit with there requirements. One thing we do notice sometimes is they stop feeding altogether. So a bit of incouragement is often required in the form of a live meal usually ...

Glad to see things have improved for the better. Can you get antibiotics in your country of origin as it may be wise to get some in the future, just in case. I can recall buying some Dianemia some years ago which suffered a similar fate, unfortunately not much was known about Flexibacter at the time ...

Not sure what to suggest now on this one. Melafix works well double dosed on sick cats, with the help of oxytetracyclin it recovered a very sick Syno Granulous. Cory cats are usually ok in most water parameters but most of these probs seem stress related . They may have had a poor time in shipping ...

No I wouldnt recconmend it, you will only make them worse. We usually only use metrodozinale on Discus, were yes the temps are higher so cant say how it works at lower temps. Do the corys seem any better today. Try and ask your lfs if they can keep fish back for you in future, it will prevent this ...

We have kept ottos in tanks with discus and they age very rapidly resulting in untimely deaths. Although the Sturisoma are nice and will be fine in these temps they tend to attack the discus and cause there deaths instead. Slowly acclimatize some clown pleco and try them instead or some Royal Pleco's.

It always amazes me how some people that do no cleaning etc get away with not loosing there fish. They are in the minority I am sure. Fish have varying life expectancy I kept an Hoplo for 20yrs and know of people with koi pushing 40. If you look after your cats well, they will enjoy a happy long life.

Hi we have encountered this problem on l264 cats on several occasions. The fish do usually perish very quickly if action is not taken.
