Please keep us apprised of your testing results. I'm especially interested in how you rate your pH meter as it seems that I can't find a reliable one to use.

Re: the wet spot expierence?
I have no experience shipping with Wet Spot but have brought back fish from there when I have flown there 3x in the last couple of years. Their stock is excellent and they know how to pack for extended time in bags. As for the curtness of the staff, I've never experienced anything but focussed ...

Mixing tap water with rain water should provide enough stability to your water. I do filter my rainwater with activated carbon before using it for water changes for reasons that I think you're aware of.

Crow?
I just read that one of the differences between sexes in H. acipenserinus is that the males have a spoon-shaped crow and the females' crow is pointed. Can someone explain to me what a crow is in this context?

Re: Catfish that swim in the water column
Corydoras hastatus do this. They'll school with some tetras (ones that have similar size and coloration). So true. I once had a school of 50 hastatus in a planted community tank where any and all tetras would school with them. It was especially interesting when I added a small school of the ...

IMHE mixing different loricarids it's a real crap shoot when trying to anticipate inter-species aggression. Those other loricarids, no matter their size, can inflict damage to others. I'm not sure, but are all of the species that you are keeping in the tank endemic to the same environment in nature ...

Catcon 2016 Corydoras interest?
Bringing fish over the border from Canada to the USA is an onerous task at best, so I'm trying to gauge interest in some of the Corydoras that I have available to bring to the convention for sale before attempting the logistics. Here is what I have available: C. boesemani 1.25" juveniles C. carlae 1 ...

Re: Anyone have trouble with plecos climbing into outlet of HMF?
I raise young BNPs and in the tanks where I've got homemade airlifters I use screen door mesh fastened with electric zip ties to prevent the young from going to the dark side. Being on the dark side doesn't hurt them, but I'm sure they're growth rates aren't optimal, and it is a hassle to catch them ...

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs
The aeneus are much faster growing and stronger as fry than the trils. So although I usually hatch them together (but not in this case because of the snail expt), I have to sort out the trils earlier than the aeneus to move them to grow out tanks. I once made the mistake of trying to grow out ...

Re: Why are my new S. petricola so shy and hate light so much?
The petricola/lucipinnis take a while to settle in to new surroundings. Even when transferred from one of your tanks to another they are still shy after being moved. Be patient and they will eventually get comfortable and you'll see more of them.
