Re: Looking at breeding some L134 pleco
Also many breeders go with thr idea more females the better. I find with L134 an equal ratio works well for me. My original wc group turned out to be 1 male, 5 females and females can be very persistant when gravid. The male was clueless and just swatted them away. I whittled down to 2 females and ...

I know someone thats fed strawberries to bns they like that. But they degrade fast. And melon rind of various types go down well. Beetroot, not pickled might be an option. Beta Carotine is also used in some colour enhancing commercial fish foods.

Re: HELP cant keep baby l134 alive
Don't see any reason why oak leaves can't be used as an alternative for Indian almond leaves.

Re: HELP cant keep baby l134 alive
Have you tried providing wood pieces and Indian almond leaves? Most of the debris in breeder box where my 2 week old L134s is remains of eaten leaves, they fed for a couple of days only on these just after egg sacks absorb. (And/or biofilm) I also feed micro protein pellets and veg flakes that they ...

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Mine get a variety of commercial foods so obviously contains a bit of protein. I did pinch your repashy recipe. But the boys pigged out on everyone's share and got tubby. So back on a tetra prima/veg flake diet, occasionally Vitalis pleco pellets and nature kind.

Thanks Eric.
Obviously Paul's youngsters have a taste for more protein based foods have you found this with yours, as with your mustard spots. Although for obvious reasons and certainly not as a staple, maybe I should add something similar occasionally.

Still very young, so should colour up a bit more. But the latest batches have had some very nice patterns.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Also an update. I've had three batches since last update. Although I was told knocking temp back would stop them breeding, I was also advised that with leaving as it is, they'd know when to stop, I'm not so sure they do!
Here's the result!

Might be worth checking the other two, when you next work on the tank.

Re: L397s Spawning :):):)
Bit of an eventful few days in L397 tank. After dad kicked, there's now a new batch of fry in egg tumbler, was a bit of an issue with fungussed eggs, was concern over how many would successfully hatch, but got a good few fry despite this. There's still 2 very gravid females, 2 males have been ...

Two of my boys have been trapping on and off all week, one of them is now. I had three very gravid females ready to pop, well one did! Last night discovered a male with eggs in the cave. He wasn't as interested in fanning the eggs but more in the female waiting outside. ;)

Can try it but if there appears to be any problems can move the synos out, saying that will be interesting trying to catch them in that tank!

Catfish (Pleco/Synodontis) compatibly Question???
Obtained a group of 7 L204 Flash plecos today, 1 in QT, as from a different source. 6 are in a 4' x 2' x 15" tank, the other to be added after QT. In another tank I have 2 Synodontis Brichardi. The L204 tank has lots of flow at lower levels from two Eheim stream on pumps and lots of surface moment ...

Re: L397 Antics.
Possibly, or just moving the babies and the rescape itself has unsettled them, territories are broken up enough, just they won't stay in their own! I could just as easily put it back as before and see if that helps, there's tensions to a degree when a pair spawn, but not as bad as this time.I haven ...

Hi Folks, For the first time in quite a while, having some difficulties with my L397 group of 6, 3m 3f. Been breeding over the summer, I did think they had wound down for a while.
