sorry she is ill, I think they live loneger than that, not sure what you mean by common ancistrus - here our common BNs are brown not black. dont what is ailing her but I would add some natural treatment such as melafix to help her heal and primafix for good measure - as these are plant extracts ...

Hi, I have some plant pots as well as home made terracotta caves where I bought the clay, made them and had them fired. I have had no problems. one of my BNs got a red sore on the end of its nose which I thought might be from the edge of a PVC tube where the edges are a little rough, but it healed ...

hi, hello. glad you like your new fish. I have some starlight bristle noses which change shade a lot, sometimes mood or often what they are sitting on (pale sand or dark wood). sometimes they (and my other plecs) do this jumping you describe - I call it "head butting an invisible wall" and wondered ...

hi, dont own any (yet) but LFS has just got 8 shipped in- a good size, about 5 inches. these are the first I have seen in the flesh. these are dark , but not jet black, but with a slight blue hue, the spots are supposed to be powder blue but they are virtually white. I would not describe it as a ...

my worse loss/mistake was recently I bought a group of 6 L129 plecs plus 2 L270 choc zebras plecs (very similar fish but L128 are smaller) and transported them a long way home (bought so many as not likely to find locally -but NOT cheap). Put them in a "new" tank - well I took the bio filter sponges ...

sorry she is sick I did not know fish could have a "stoke" (ie brain bleeding) I thought fish which swim on one side was some kind of "swim bladder" problem - a bit like us haveing a balance problem. but I know nothing really and have not kept this species. I have some other corys and occasionally ...

Hi, yes shop around for sand but put under magnifying glass to see of rounded or sharp of you have corys etc that sieve sand. I was told by a LFS to use builders' silver sand -cheap in big bags - but it was so filthy when I came to wash it -I was not going to trust it on my fish! You are brave to ...

thanks, I was using liqufry and micro worms. I was keeping the fry in a net cage suspended in a big tank, this way the liquifry sank through the net after about an hour. I have no way of knowing if they ate any worms as they just disappear into the water, so I was adding a paintbrush tip full every ...

brilliant, well done. Unfortunately the last 6 fry which made it to day 9 , all died today! :( I have collected another 10 eggs this afternoon -will try again, and try your advice. when you drop the food in, do they actually go to it to feed? I never really saw mine eating but they did grow quite ...

Hi, I also recently bought a "blue Spotted Plec" from my local shop. it looks just like yours I though maybe it was a young L128, but on studing it and asking other people in Plecofanantics.com (where you will find some pics of mine in the Miscellaneous gallery )- I think it might be an L254. mine ...
