Re: Have pandas, was given an albino today...
Interesting. I love hearing other views and opinions, i appreciate things I might not have thought of on my own. Yes, the change in behavior started weeks before the albino arrived. I almost hoped he'd perk them up a bit. So it's possible that the change in behavior with the addition of the black ...

Re: Have pandas, was given an albino today...
While I'm picking your brain about Cory let me ask you (and anyone else who wants to chime in) this; I've had the pandas for a long time, I had them on Tahitian moon sand in a 20g long. I moved them to the 60 gallon, with a tan colored sand instead of the black because I wanted something less ...

Re: Have pandas, was given an albino today...
The pandas I have now are all 2-3 years old. 3 of them are fry I managed to raise, lost a couple of others along the way. Im torn. I like the little guy (or girl? I think she may be a female, based on what I've seen in my pandas). Also, the girl who brought the albino to my house today admitted to ...

Re: Have pandas, was given an albino today...
Hmmm ok. Thanks for the input. I'm not sure. I do really love my pandas. But I may also like the albinos? I don't know, ive only ever had panda Cory. How do the albino differ, behavior, personality wise? And would it be unfair to the albino to only have the one? I currently have 6 panda Cory, 9 oto ...

Have pandas, was given an albino today...
I have a 60 gallon tank with skirt tetras, Otos and 6 panda Cory. I planned on more pandas after I move, waiting to stock until then. At my job we have a betta in a 2.5 gallon. One of my coworkers thought it would be a good idea to buy an albino cory to live in there with him. Long story short, the ...

Re: going insane choosing sand for new setup
I almost always buy "Black Diamond Blasting Sand" from a hardware or farm supply store. It's black and less than $10 for 50 lbs. I can't find the black diamond anywhere around here. Only "black beauty", and their website describes the particles as angular and sharp. So that's a bummer, I love the ...

Re: going insane choosing sand for new setup
Thanks everyone for the input. After considering all your responses I decided to suck it up and buy the sunset gold sand. I don't want to worry about ph issues. I don't want to risk another bad play sand, and pool sand isn't ideal. After more research I found the manufacturer describes the black ...

Re: going insane choosing sand for new setup
i just tested it now. tap water: 7.0, current tank:7.2, sample (after an hour): 7.6. I'm finding this so frustrating! i don't want to buy a new play sand and test it to find out it fails too and have a hundred pounds of useless sand. i know some people use black blasting sand? theres a local place ...

Re: going insane choosing sand for new setup
i wonder if the quikrete sands are similar. i really like the look of the playsand i bought, but the guy on the phone spooked me a little, telling me it'll raise my pH and nuke my fish. it looks really natural and super soft and fine but with different variations going through it. i rinsed a small ...

going insane choosing sand for new setup
hi! long time reader, first time poster. i currently have a 20g long planted tank with panda cory. i am upgrading to a 60 gallon as soon as i get the substrate figured out. its going to be a dirted tank like my 20g, but i want to find a sand that will be safe for the cory and preferably dark in ...
