Re: Tank mates that go well with bristlenose.

I have kept goldfish with bristlenose, also peacock malawi cichlids with bristlenose, also kept a synodontis with bristlenose. They do fine with fancy goldfish but can get a bit aggressive over food, so best to feed the goldfish floating food. Bristlenose are a great bottom dwelling community tank ...

Re: Pictus acting suspicious around new pleco tank mate

Thanks jodilynn. It seems I'm a goose because it's not even a pictus, lol. It has been identified as a synodontis. In the video you can see a bit of the bristlenose as well but they aren't particularly happy as I had to tank out all the tank ornaments in order to get a video. https://www.youtube.com ...

Re: Is this a pictus?

Great thanks! I never could have kept a 2 foot catfish; I was planning on selling it if it grew too big. My computer must be playing up because I can't get photobucket to play. Here is the youtube link anyway in case anyone else has a problem viewing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y4R8URCDMs ...

Re: Is this a pictus?

http://vidmg.photobucket.com/albums/v47 ... G_1562.mp4 This fish is about 13 cm (5") long and has doubled it's size since I bought it 3 years ago. The aquarium store person told me it was an African catfish that could grow up to 2 foot long.

Looks like they have become best buddies. They are resting side by side now. Cool.

Re: Pictus acting suspicious around new pleco tank mate

Well, they are both still alive and happy 48 hours later. The pictus is still out and about instead of hiding all day. Maybe the pictus just likes another catfish for company.

Pictus acting suspicious around new pleco tank mate

I had to dismantle a tank and move a bristlenose pleco into a 25gallon with a pictus catfish that had previously had the tank to himself. Prior to having it's own tank the pictus shared with cichlids and didn't bother them. His behaviour in shared tanks and his own tank was to basically hide during ...
