My sister had the same issues you did, but in Cape Coral. Impossible to keep the bathroom looking the way you'd like. Lime stains everywhere. But, I've caught adult and juvenile Channel cats using rod and reel in the brackish canal in the backyard.

Thanks, Andy. We had a wonderful time. Our club is hoping to do something similar if the massive amounts of snow disappear.

Re: Chaetostoma (L444?) feeding/behaviour concerns
Sorry for your loss. Don't be hard on yourself and don't give up on them. I always learn something from them, such as the type of water they like(I didn't know they like it neutral to harder). They can also get into it with others and need a space to call their own. I also keep mine in indirect ...

Re: FYI Marineland Stealth Pro heater withdrawl
I talked to Ken from Ken's Fish. It's all Marineland Stealth heaters(the ones with the black plastic casings). The problem has been going on since they came out. They had major melt-downs at Roger Williams University in one of their brand new salt water breeding set ups. The plastic casings melted ...

Re: Ancistrus Sp. Albino monster spawn 253+ eggs
That's a lot of eggs for one female Ancistrus. The most I've gotten from the pair I have is 85. The male kicked out the clutch once, because of overcrowding in the 55 gallon tank (too many juvenile Ancistrus). Once I got rid of most of the juvenile Ancistrus, he stopped kicking out the egg clutch ...

Re: Banjo Catfish in a 40gal.
I have mine in a 15 gallon species tank. They need a lot of places to hide. You may not see them for days, then they suddenly appear. I tried the moonlight thing with them. I was up at all hours and I wanted to watch them. When they get comfy and come out to play, they are amusing.

I feed them Ken's stick mix as a primary and their "treats" are the Sera chips or frozen/freeze-dried food(reconstituted), followed by a day off. The Sera chips are too expensive for a primary food.

Aside from Brown's book, which is still in publication, there is another book, but I'm not sure it's still published. It's called Chamber's Etymological English Dictionary by A.M. MacDonald. My copy was a gift and I have no idea of its origins. Brown's book is large and very helpful. MacDonald's ...

I mess up virtually a lot. Going gender neutral just seems so wrong.
I stick with my original sentiment. We all go through tough times. Take a step back! Remember why you got into this in the first place and look to the Big Lebowski for some serious laughs.

Groke, I have cut down on the number of tanks I have so I can better pay attention. It's what I can now manage. I know you're good with fish, since you've bred Chaetostoma sp. This is no small thing! Keep your chin up, reduce the number of tanks to something managable and regroup. We all go through ...

Re: Banjo Catfish with tumor?
I've seen a cyst on an Ancistrus sp. male once. It was on the end of one of his tentacles and got large very, very quickly(24 hour period). I put him in a quarantine tank. It got larger and larger and it burst on its own in another day. I used no medicine, but frequent partial water changes(daily ...

Re: Whis wrong with my Farlowella?
That does look like a heater burn. They have the tendency to sit near the heater for long periods of time. I had to turn the heater down quite low because one female lives there permanently. She refuses to move. She and the male guard eggs there.

It's easy when you can bring your bag of fish to your local club, isn't it? Our club has you write an article if it's a "first-time spawned" within the club. There are bonus points awarded for a "first-time spawned" as well. It gets a bit confusing, because the bonus points are added onto the ...

Loricariids seem to enjoy the flourite-base stuff more. They gnaw on it and turn the flourite bits to fine dust. I usually use the FloraBase. I use a mixture of sand and FloraBase or just sand with Corydoras sp.

All done, finally! The outflow from the house was less than 1/2" in diameter. We have no clue how we averted a complete disaster in the first place(like a 2' flood). There was a large tree root growing into the outflow pipe, cutting off most of the flow. A new 6" outflow is in place and working. The ...
