Re: Need help selecting small Cory
While not a dwarf the Corydoras Loretoensis is a fantastic small species. The elongated dorsal fin is definitely an eye catcher and one of my favorites.

Re: Dither fish for L397 breeding tank?
Sure, there are numerous types of Tetras that will work and I believe Lemons would be a nice addition but I would take a long hard look at the Ember Tetra. A large Shoal of Embers in optimal conditions is truly a remarkable site. IMO other strong tetra candidates would be Hemigrammus rodwayi (Gold ...

Re: Dither fish for L397 breeding tank?
With the tanks footprint bleheri probably are not the best fit. Sure they could work but for schooling purposes its not much space. How about a nice size shoal of Hyphessobrycon amandae (embers) or as Jools mentioned Trigonostigma heteromorpha (Harlequins). In general most rasboras would fit the ...

Re: Algae Issues
Nah nothing to be too concerned about at least at this time. Its all about finding the corrective measure which will be the least disruptive to the tank in general as well as the safest way to destroy the algae. Definitely start with Racoll's recommendation by relocating the moss in addition cut ...

Re: Algae Issues
Most fish will not eat hair algae depending on the type. Mollies will eat hair algae however again it depends on the type. If you prefer a nicer looking fish try the Ameca Splendens however it will be more difficult to procure. Ghost Shrimp will also eat certain types of hair algae.

Re: Ich present in quarantine tank, how would you treat?
If my loaches contracted Ich I would start with the standard protocol of turning off lights, increase aeration and bump the temp to 86. If the loaches were introduced to cooler water prior to the bump in heat I would increase 1 degree an hour until a temp of 86 is reached. Since loaches are more ...

Re: Odd characin thread
Some oddball characins. The ultra rare Moenkhausia phaeonota, Hyphessobrycon amapaensis, Iguanodectes spilurus, Hyphessobrycon sp. Rainbow or Bleeding Blue (I do not believe it has been given an official name). I have a few rainbows growing out in the tank as well. Parva, Tabubil and Kamakas ...

Re: Odd characin thread
I ordered some Slender Chameleon Tetras for the LFS I work at and they will be here friday in the fish shipment. I only found a cpl of articles on them and wondered if anyone here has had any personal experience with them? They seem pretty rare, but sound very cool. Of course, I will be taking a ...
