Candiru asu? Scavenger fish in the Amazon
Hi everyone I recently saw a program on either the National geographic channel or one of the Discovery channels. Anyway, it was an expedition on the amazon, and they found these scavenger fish at crazy depths. They called it the Candiru asu(spelling is off). No it wasn't the small catfish that ...

Looks just like sun catfish but isn't, what do I have?
Hi I bought what I thought was a sun catfish at a local petstore. However I realized after purchase it was not. I wish I had a pic of the little guy but my digital camera recently broke so for now words are the only option. The two cats look similar, however mine has 2 spots: one exactly where ths ...

Sun catfish and irridescent (shark) w/salt?
Hi
I have an irridescent shark along with a sun catfish living with a dragonfish(violet goby). As of right now they all live in freshwater, but the dragonfish needs some salt as they mature, are the irridescent and sun cat ok with some salt, or are they strictly freshwater?
Thank you

Do larger channel cats need special care during winter?
Hi I live in Pa right outside Southwest Philadelphia, and have kept channel catfish for the last few years. They all live in my pond in the backyard. My question is do these guys need any special care as they get larger? My biggest is a 15 inch albino, who is the dominant fish in my 4 1/2' deep pond ...

shovelnose!
Hi Great pics! I just want to say that your fish look great, and want to ask a question: What size tank do you have? I want a shovelnose so bad, however I'm not sure if I can privide enough room for one, and possibly more fish. I plan on getting a 125 gallon, how does that sound? Thanks Mike

Hi
your fish is an iridescent shark. Despite the name, it is indeed a catfish.

Hi everyone I just signed in to become a member of planetcatfish. I am huge fan of catfish, and want to know more about housing them. I currently live in Pennsylvania and have 4 channel catfish in my pond outside(3 albino 1 blue). Also a wild catfish from a local pond caught while fishing. Inside I ...
