I've kept them before
with other types of fish..among them African Butterfly Fish and Bristlenose plecos..and not had it happen. I'd think Cichlids would be too aggressive to allow it.. My ottos, as well as the rest of my fish , get the following(and there are various types of algae growing in both tanks) Frozen: Cichlid ...

Brochis Splendens with Gas Bubble Disease
In a 125 gal planted tank..did a quick test of water levels are ok. I just got 5 of these guys Fri..they are about 3" long. The side of the tank with Plants (the other side is just gravel and holey rock) has deep substrate in some areas..but does have a bubble disk in the middle. When I was first re ...

I too, have Otos..NOT CAEs..that will and do suck the slime off of other fish.. and even see to really target a large pearl gourami that has a small wound .. There is algae in the tank..plants..and wood..and they are well fed.. but I have been out of algae tabs for a while. Although they did this ...

When Otos attack
Ok , not attack..but they attempt to suck slime off of other fish at times..which hasn't been a prob because the fish move. But I have a Pearl Gourami that I'm watching because it seems to have scratched itself on something (maybe got stuck in rock or wood?)... and last night I noticed an Oto trying ...

Not "megamart" otos lol
This Megamart doesn't even carry Otos..and my LFS is very nice..and only charges $1.99 for them.. I got some other otos, too , right about the same time..13..for my big tank. They've done great.. I occasionally give a disk..more often I feed frozen omnivore that has some algae in it. There is still ...

Stocking question for a cory addict
I have a 6 ft/125 gal half planted tank (other half is dark with rock formations).. So far one double bio wheel filter.. eventually going to get a second filter or cannister.. This is how it is stocked now: 7 Pearl Gouarmis (4.7" ..about 3" now) 5 Glass Catfish (3.2", almost full grown now) 13 Otos ...

Oto looks like it's starving
I have 5 Ottos left in my 20 gal (lost a few initially either to fin rot of the tail, OR the skunk botias, who were given away). This is a well established 20 gal with lotsa algae, and they are well fed (brine shrimp/frozen omnivore/bloodworms/sinking pellets/flake). All otos look great except one ...

It's a Pleco thing
I'm surprised this is the first time. My bigger plecos I've had started doing it as soon as they were large enough..Or rather, they did it some when smaller..but once they are about 8"-10" they can really move things and make a mess.

Plecos in a 6ft Community (best kept singly?in pairs?)
Just wondering what's best.. I have a 6 ft community tank, half planted for now (with driftwood and fine living substrate), the other size is larger round gravel and pieces of holey rock (and kept dark). Other inhabitants are Pearl Gouramis, Zebra Loaches, Spotted Hillstream Loaches, C. Trilineatus ...

What M/F ratio should you have with C. Elegans?
I have a 125 gal very peaceful community (planted) with 9 C. Trilineatus (among other fish) and started with 3 C. Elegans (that was all LFS had), a male and 2 females..now they have a tankfull that's been there for a few weeks..but I waited too long..and all I THINK they have are females. SO I got 3 ...

Cories with blister outside their gill cover (C. Trileanatus
I noticed today 2 of my Cories (C. Trileanatus) had a perfectly round, looks like an egg..clear..thing..just outside of their gill cover on the left side. I say two.. I think there were two like this..but I have 9 total, plus 3 C. Elegans, so it's kinda hard at feeding time to count.. At first I ...
