Re: A Wonderful Wednesday Morning Surprise!

Back to the knob nose whiptails: Are they a fast growing species or more slowly growing?
I also have some H. acipenserinus around 5 cm. I'm just wondering how long it would take until they become adult or better to say to the age when spawing would be possible.

A. Rio Ucayali, A. hoplogenys or something else

Hi,

I need some help with the identification of my new Ancistrus. I think Ancistrus sp. Rio Ucayali or Ancistrus hoplogenys. But maybe there are some experts who kept those species and can tell me what it is. The little guy is just 4.5 cm right now.

Re: l201 3 fish male or female

Maybe it's because of the perspective of the picture. But I have never seen a female with such strong odontodes. For me it's a male.

Re: Bubble Nest?

Maybe the oxygen level is too low and they're just trying to get air.
If they do it frequently it's not normal behavior.

So try to get more air into the water or maybe a water change will also assist.

Re: Red and Black Ancistrus?

It looks like a calico/piebald. http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/spe ... cies_id=49

But it will grow larger than only 75 mm. By the way, the fins don't look pretty good. Like bitten?

Re: Sexing L262

I only see three males clearly. It's not only the fins but also the had shape.
Sorry, but maybe the other two are female.

Re: Health issue with a non catfish species

It didn't seem infectous because the male is still healthy and the female died this year in spring. Like I mentioned it didn't go away but I had the impression that sometimes the immun system was kind of fighting it back and the "tumor" was shrinking a bit. This happened when I changed the water not ...

Re: Health issue with a non catfish species

Hi, I once had a similar problem with a Heros cichlid. At first it looked like an inflammation on the fin but it was a tumor-like tissue. It didn't go away but the fish didn't show any problems with that for a long time. About a half year after it occured the tumor spread within the body showing ...
