No i knew you said 3cm(i am in canada so we know what these are :razz: ) but when i got there all i saw was really skinny pipe and the 3" ones. PLus i didn't think a 3 1/2"syno could fit in a 3cm pipe?

I"ll see what i cn find,my dad may have some in the garage.

ALright, then how big should i get the pipe? I have never seen a fully gown syno.petricola so i'm not sure exactly how big they get and how small a space they can fit in. Should i get 2" pipe? ok I went out nad bought some PVC pipe last night. I got the 3" diameter kind.Is this agood size for making caves? How long should i cut it? I should make 3,one for each syno?

The red empress are Protomelas taeniolatus. I was thinking of trying to find a female for my P.electra but i havent' seen any around locally(all they carry are males).

Thanks for reminding me about the PVC pipes, I was planning on doing that.

Thanks good to know i could always add mroe without them picking on the new one.

I was wondering if bristlenose plecos need driftwood in their diet like some other plecos? I"m aksin becuase on another board a member said that they do but i have BN plecos in all my tanks and some have dirftwood and some don't and they are all healthy.

So do bristlenose plecos need driftwood?

Thank you, I don't know what species they are as they were just sold as albino bristlenoses. 2 of them are growing quite fast and the 3rd one is the runt of the group and looks like he hasn't grown at all since i got them. Hopefully i will be able to sex them soon as i want to tranfer them to ...

bristlenose's bristles

I was wondering when bristlenose plecos start getting their bristles? I bought 3 albino BN plecos in hopes of getting a pair.Right now 2 are about 1 1/2" and one is 1"(the runt of the pack).

I'm wondering how much longer it will take before I can see bristles?

Hi, I'm jsut wondering if the rubbernose plecos i see in the LFS are captive bred or wild caught? I know some people have bred them but i'm not sure if they are bred on a big scale like bristlenose or common plecos are.

Thanks, hopefully they will turn out to be 2 males and 1 female.So in the end i have 2 pairs. I'm not too concerned about whether they spawn or not, I just want to have 2 and thought a pair(m/f) would be better then 2 of the same gender.

Anyone else keep more then one?

Well i'm trying to get a hold of a rusty pleco, My LFs is seeing if they can order me one next time he makes his orders. I was wondering if rusties need driftwood like some other plecos do? Should i find some ot add to my tank?

I'm not going to be buying any,Just wanted to know what they were.I hate when the stores only have common names and can't even fidn the scientific name if you ask for it.

The blue spotted pleco did look like that, but its base color was more dark brown/black. Is 60$can a ok price,seems a bit much?

I was at the LFs and saw soem really nice plecos.One was called a mustard spot black pleco and the other was a blue spotted pleco.Both were about 4" and cost 60$can. I can't find any info on them by usign the common names and the guy at the LFS didn't know anyhting.He said all plecos are the same so ...

I personally haven't been able to save any fry but then again i wasn't really trying,I jsut left then in teh tank and being a community tank they got eaten. But the breeder i got them from supposedly breeds them in our tap water. I got mine through a friend of the breeder and that is what she said ...

Yeah i have had my angels and rams breed. I got my pair of rams from a local breeder and he says he doesn't change his water either(regular tap water). If it is because BN are tank bred they work better in a wide range of conditions then what are some otehr plecos(besides commons) that are tank ...

well i know you should keep fish in the same kind of water that they come from but I have angels,rams and apistos that breed in my water(ph7.8 kh6). Aren't some plecos supposed to be hardier then then fagile fish like rams? Bristlenose plecos come from lower ph but are routinely used in african ...
