Fish give off growth pheremones into the water. When the tank has less water volume they will run into these growth pheremones more often which tells them to slow their growth so they don't overcrowd. If you change a large amount of your water very often theoretically this should make them grow ...

I was under the impression schoutedeni needed water around 7.0-7.5? The store I bought them at had them in with african cichlids with a ph of 8.5!!! I have both of them in straight tap from my house that is at 7.5 which I thought was a little soft for the multipuncs but still ok and just about right ...

Syno schoutedeni, with multipunctatus?

Hello I have six synodontis multipunctatus babies about 1.5 inches long and I just today bought 2 synodontis schoutedeni(sp?) and I was wondering if you guys think it would be safe to put them together or if they are too territorial? I currently have them separated but I would like to put them ...

Cats from FAST rivers.

Ok they don't have to be asian but since my other fish are asian I thought I'd post it here. I'm setting up a 20gallon long tank that I'm going to be putting my five Beaufortia hillstream loaches in. I want to put some catfish that can take the current from a river tank setup and won't bother my ...

Another question about the multipuncs

Ok so the Synodontis Multipunctatus are around 2 months old. How long does it take for them to be sexually mature? I've read several different accounts ranging anywhere from 14 months to 5 years. Anyone else have some ideas? Thanks ~wayne

Thanks for the suggestion corybreed. Thats what the lfs owner suggested. I really like those demansoni's though. What do I put with my multipunctatus (cichlids)

I just bought 5 multipunctatus and I don't know much about africans. I went to the lfs today and looked at some. The ones I really like are the Psuedotropheus Demansoni but after reading further I'm afraid of two things. 1. they are too mean and will tear up my poor little cats. 2. They are too ...

It's better to keep cories in groups of six or more. You can mix species but they like to be in groups.

Yes there is hikari and some other brands make algae wafers that sink to the bottom and most plecos love and its more balanced nutrition for plecos.Read the thread on what foods to feed plecos too I don't remember exactly what the title is but it should still be somewhere near the top.

silurus your suggestion on not feeding them until they have emptied theyre bowels has a flaw in it I think wouldn't the earthworms have some protien from what they had just recently eaten? If so you would be taking that out of the worms. Just a theory but I think its a valid one.
