Hi @FiredUp,

How big (long) are your fish? Looking at the photos, since you mentioned you just got the fish, I'm thinking they'll need conditioned before you can tell more accurately.

Also, a separate issue but I think it was reported previously: I just tried to add spawning dates to my Tatia intermedia BLOG report. The follow up screen said the data was accepted and displayed it, but then when viewing the report again, the new dates were not listed.

Okay. That's odd because you can see in the image it's bigger. Maybe that was a manufacturing irregularity?

Otherwise, as far as I know, he sells nothing between 1.75" and 2.25".

Here are two examples of size differences in the simple "round" caves from Plecocaves:

The short light brown-colored cave is a standard "round" cave. It's 6" long x 1 6/8" outer diameter (OD). It can be found here: https://plecocaves.com/product/1-5 ...

Ugh. This is the problem with traveling. I was gone for two weeks. While away, I hired a trusted person to care for my fish. I know they are reliable so I don't doubt their attention or care. Even so, sadly, all the 1000 or so Tatia intermedia fry died while I was away. :-(

Re: Sick striped Raphael catfish

As far as changing water, is your current water basically the same as it has been over all the years you've had this fish? If so, don't change. If the water has become harder then yes probably need to add some RO water with routine water changes.

I have two thoughts about the water. 1) other fish ...

Hi Perry,

Welcome to PlanetCatfish!

The picture alone is not enough to ID accurately, but based on the fish size, shape and the small spots on the head, I suspect it's a type of pleco.

Hopefully someone else can offer a more nuanced opinion.

Hi Evie007,

Sorry to read this... that sucks.

I'm not sure what to recommend. The eggs shouldn't be "old" (something I've gotten from females which haven't spawned in a long time). So I'm thinking oxygen. Try adding more aeration to the tank. Or, if you're incubating the eggs separately, increase ...

I'm thinking it's a water issue also, especially if the angelfish has a redness... that could mean bacterial infections or at least skin irritation and hemorrhage.

You say it's a bare-bottom tank? If so, I'd start a series of progressively bigger water changes... 10% today, 25% tomorrow, 50% the ...
