The first looks like a very nicely colored fish that comes in with either or ; I suspect it is O. zygata, and the proof is how did the color fade later (vs. the color doesn't fade). The second looks like .

Re: Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?
When I was in Peru in August, I really wanted to bring back a group of these, but at the time I had no viable import mechanism to the USA, so I passed on them.
Maybe next year.

Here are the fry today. The video description is: Here are my Tatia cf. Intermedia fry on the day after the final eggs hatched. I started with about 20 eggs. One egg died on day 1 of incubation. A couple more disappeared or hatched by day 4. Those early hatchlings also died. On days 5 and 6 of ...

Re: Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?
I saw them at two exporters in Iquitos this last summer (August 2024). One of those was Green Fish Aquarium. They posted a video of the fish on Facebook, here: https://fb.watch/vZWM94UfYO/ . The fish I saw there did have a green color, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was merely iridescence. IDK ...

One final inspection tonight before going home (it's 6pm here now): Nearly all the eggs have hatched, but there are about 4 still unhatched. It's now been nearly 6.5 days since I first found the eggs. I wonder if the lower temp at the time of spawning (and for the first approximately 1.5 days after ...

Re: Tatia intermedia spawned!
Several more eggs hatched overnight, but more still remain to hatch. A few good fry moving about the tray, but one dead one remains. Unfortunately, I don't know if the dead fry is the same one from a day ago, or if that fry disintegrated and this fry I see now is another dead one. I'll just have to ...

Re: Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?
Congrats on the purchase, but I'm sorry to read about your losses. Hopefully you can keep both sexes going.
I've seen them for sale before under the same name you bought them as, Tatia sp. Peru Green. I don't think they're a Glanidium, but I could be wrong.
Cheers,
Eric

Re: Tatia intermedia spawned!
Thanks for documenting this in such detail. With the ones that I have hatched, this looks about right to me, they will sit like that for a day or 2 before becoming true free-swimming. I'm glad to hear that sound normal, but in my fish's case, I don't think it was: sadly the baby that hatched out ...

My sources give Egombé as a stream with the coordinates 0°57'24"S 9°1'34"E. Thanks HH! Yes, that's what I found also when I looked up its coordinates. But that wasn't my main question. My question was about what's the basis for putting these fish in the Egombé? I can't find any literature doc ...

Hi All, We have Synodontis robertsi and Parauchenoglanis balayi enterered in our database as being present in the Egombé river in Gabon. I just talked to two botanists, one an aquarium keeper and the other not. Both said they were unaware of any concerns regarding Persimmon wood. They did add though that you should soak it well before adding to a tank.
