Re: Featherfin update
Nice mix of fish, Pareutropius buffei; Phenacogrammus interruptus; Synodontis euptera. :-BD Thanks :) I have 5 synodontis Nigriventris in there too. These guys were responsible for getting me hooked on Catfish to begin with. How are the Pareutropius coping with the Featherfin, as in are they ...

Featherfin update
About a year and a half ago this community helped me ID my smallish Catfish. It was sold as Nigriventris, but was actually an Eupterus. I thought I'd share a recent pic of him/her inspecting the cork bark I just added.

Re: Synodontis resting on filter intake
Hey Naturalart, Thanks for the reply. I've definitely learned my lesson about quarantining. My Eupterus got Ich very shortly after the nigriventris's death; I was able to treat successfully with API Super Ick treatment. Then my Bristlenose Pleco developed a pinkish red sore on his head. I think ...

Re: Synodontis resting on filter intake
Ya the eupterus does this sometimes. It was the little nigriventris that I was worried about. I had just bought him. I came home today though and he's dead... I got him on Sunday and the lady at the fish store got him caught in the net and was basically banging the net hard to try and get him out ...

Re: Synodontis resting on filter intake
Yes, that's right. He just let's the intake suck him against the intake "cage" or head so to speak. He's not stuck though.Viktor Jarikov wrote:So it is not so much "ON" the intake but is stuck on it and held in place by the intake's sucking action?
A pic could be helpful.

Re: Synodontis resting on filter intake
I guess I'm worried it might be bad for his fins or skin if he just lets the filter intake suck him against it for hours at a time.

Synodontis resting on filter intake
Hey everyone, I've noticed that my Synodontis like to rest on the filter intake sometimes. I'm wondering if I should let them? or look into preventing this. I'm not so much worried about my Featherfin since she's a fair size now. It's the little Nigriventris I just bought that has me worried. I have ...

Re: Sick Synodontis Nigriventris
So I randomly came across this disease called Hole in the Head disease and I think this is what my fish suffered from http://www.fishchannel.com/fish-health/ ... amita.aspx
I thought I'd update the thread so other forum users looking for help might find it.

Re: Sick Synodontis Nigriventris
Well, it's with much sadness to let you know that my upsidedown cat has died :YMSIGH: . It really sucks because he was one of my first fish when I started my tank almost two years ago. I think I simply noticed the symptoms much too late and by the time I started treatment he must have already been ...

Re: Sick Synodontis Nigriventris
Well I put him in his own tank and I've started treatment with both a anti-fungal and an anti-bacteria. The bottles say they can be used at the same time and to treat for 7 days.
I'll keep this thread updated so at least others will know how it turned out.

Re: Nigriventris or Eupterus?
oh. hmm. I guess that's why the recommended number is three? So I should return the Eupterus and and try and find two more nigriventris.
The only issue is I like the Eupterus too

Re: Nigriventris or Eupterus?
Thanks for the help guys. Now I have to decide whether or not to keep this little guy since he won't stay so little after all. Ideally I wanted another Nigriventris to keep my first company.

Nigriventris or Eupterus?
Hey everyone, I bought what I thought was a Nigriventris at my local pet store. It was labeled upside down cat, I asked them to double check the latin name for me, and they told me it was a Nigriventris. I had my doubts at the time, and I still doubt it. http://justjeff.ca/images/nigriventris_or ...
