So the other day, I was talking with a friend and he asked me if I had heard about the canabalism going on in another friends discus tank. I asked for details and he explained that the discus had been spawning, but then eating the eggs. I responded that's not canabilism that's cavier!

Well said Eric, I would echo removing the fish, plants, structure and then finally removing all the gravel and only putting back in the gravel that you want. I doubt this will have much effect on the cycling unless there is hydrogen sulfide building up in the substrate, in which case sooner or later ...

One thing you could do is institute a policy of having a bunch of sponge filters running in your stores tanks That way you can customers home with a filter full of Benificial Bacteria to get a good jump start on their nitrogen cycling. (for the cost of the filter of course)
