Re: Need help identifying a pleco
I know it's some kind of bushy nose pleco but I'm not sure exactly what kind.

Need help identifying a pleco
I bought this little fella at my LFS for $4. It was sold to me as a common pleco but it didn't look like one (that's why I bought it!). I was hoping someone could tell me what it is. And I'm sorry the picture is so bad...

Re: Paroon Shark
Yup, that's exactly what every website says and I'm not disagreeing with them but I have the fish now so... Yeah. I'm not even sure how my LFS got them in the first place!

Paroon Shark
So... On an impulse I bought two Paroon Sharks (Pangasius sanitwongsei). I didn't know what they were, I knew they were in the Pangasius family but that was it. Right now they're finger sized and in a 25gallon long tank by them selves. Any tips on keeping these beautiful fish would be appreciated. I ...

Thanks! I didn't do any treatment and left it for a week and it seems to have cleared up! That's too bad about your Centromochlus perugia.

Corydoras Sterbia with light patches on its head.
One of my Corydoras Sterbai has discolored lighter patches it's head and I was wondering if anyone knows what it might be. He's in my 90 gallon Amazon tank, temperature is about 78 degrees, Kh is 40ppm, Gh is 120ppm, and ammonia, nitrates, and nitrites are all zero.

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
I see! Well, I will think about them as a possible substitute for Ivanacara adoketa. I just got the tank today so, it will be a while before it's ready for fish.

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
I adoketa vs C maroni is appros 1 to 6. Or better. That is, I thinnk the average adult C maroni (or L curviceps, they are almost the same size) is 6 times heavier then the average adult I adoketa. Or more

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
Hi all,
I think the concept of Ivanacara adoketa as a "biotope correct filler" is an interesting one, and I'd be worried about them becoming rare, expensive and unusual fish food.
cheers Darrel
I know "biotope correct filler" didn't sound right, but hopefully you understand what I meant by that ...

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
Well, now I have two arguments on why not to put them together that are completely opposite... The reason I was setting up the tank was for the Jag, the cichlids were, more or less, just biotope correct filler. Does anyone know of another fish I can use instead of the Ivanacara adoketa?

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
There is a rule that my father taught me that I have found has held true for the most part, it is: If you put to relatively aggressive fish in a tank at or close to the same time they will get along. The only fish that I have owned that, that didn't apply too were African cichlids. I don't know if ...

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
Yup, Liosomadoras oncinus. And wow! I'm hoping to get all of the fish as juveniles and they'd be going in the tank roughly around the same time.

Re: Jaguars with Acara Cichlids?
Really?! Everything I've read about Zebra acara's says that they are relatively peaceful and are easily out competed by larger tank mates! Tbh, I was mainly asking this thinking of the safety of the acara not the jaguar! I was wondering if the jag would be big enough to eat the acara given that most ...

Re: Jaguars with Tetras?
Yeah I did a lot more research on jags and I'm not going to get them unless I can find a bigger tank. For my 90 gallon I'm getting 2 Acanthodoras spiniosissmus which I have had with neons before and had no trouble and I moved my two microglanis iheringi into the 90 as well. There are lots of hiding ...

I'd say just get 2. I have 2 in my 35 gallon tank and they're quite territorial towards eachother.

I see... well I think i'll try them with neons and if the neons start to disappear i'll move the Jaguars into my 20 gallon.

Ok, thanks. Just out of curiosity, how well would a couple of jaguar cats do in a 20 gal. tank? I have one that's not being used for anything atm.

Re: Jaguars with Tetras?
I wanted to do a big school of neons, I don't know if them being in a school would give them some protection or just make them an all you can eat buffet. There are other catfish that I want that I know won't eat small fish that I could put in my 90 gal. Instead but jaguars are just so beautiful, I'd ...

S.A. Bumblebee Catfish squeaking?
I have two bumblebee catfish in a 35 gallon tank; I had just turned the light off for the night and like usual the two catfish came out from their hiding spots and started swimming around. A few seconds later they started chasing eachother (not that usual, they're quite territorial towards eachother ...
