I have seven L075s in a 7ft tank. This morning I found the two largest ones (maybe 7-8"?) 'dancing' with each other in mid-water and doing a bit of chasing each other around. I'd never seen this behaviour before, and it's still going on with the lights on. They sometimes appear to 'nibble ...

Seems like the officials in question are trying to say, "Since we might be decimating the natural habitats of valuable ornamental fish species, we should learn how to breed them." It's very much a guide for captive breeding of zebra plecos.

I've seen these in my C Sterbai a couple of times. It looks fungal as in due course the discoloured patches on their foreheads become 'tufty'. Erm... I am not sure what you mean by you separated them? If you mean you remove other species from their tank, that's probably wise if you want fry. My discus have eaten up nearly all the Sterbai eggs. If you mean you separated some of the sterbai from the group, that seems like a terrible idea.

Females are larger and fatter. I have seen mine breed, and this rule has always held, at least in my tank.

BBetta, I think the only way to work out the gender is to see the group together so the relative sizes are apparent. Assuming they're all mature, the females should be larger and fatter relative to the males. The difference isn't enormous but it certainly is visible.

They're in a 7ft, 184 US gallon tank, and there are plenty of caves. Oh well... maybe it's just a phase.
