Thanks Eric. I haven’t searched the tank - it’s a bit of a labyrinth and I’m not sure if tearing it all apart is the best thing to do at this stage.

I just did my regular weekly water change and substrate siphon on the L244 tank, and found these in a bucket of waste water. I’m not sure whether to be happy or annoyed with myself!
I have set up a nursery, at least 3 are still wriggling and 3 have not yet hatched.

When she’s a bit older, they will usually prefer a spawning site on the glass where there is the best water flow (such as opposite a filter or powerhead outlet). If you want this to be at the front, make sure that’s where the best flow is.

I’ve got two tanks with healthy populations of them in the substrate. I’m not sure if it’s permitted to post them from the UK to the Netherlands? I have sent some within the UK which arrived successfully.

It’s a bit hard to tell from that angle, but I think it looks a lot like my male Farlowella vittata.
If you can get a photo of his underside when suckered to the glass we may be able to identify species and sex.

Mine certainly spend a lot of time suckered to branches and twigs. I’d say they need wood, not to eat but to rest on: ideally thinner branches criss-crossing the tank.

They eat algae and the microscopic creatures in it (‘aufwuchs’). The staple diet of my adults is repashy gel, I use a mixture of soilent green, morning wood and bottom scratcher. They also eat courgette and red peppers. I feed the fry on chlorella and spirulina powder, with an occasional treat of mic ...
