Got a group of 8 L204, and by the experience i know they can be quite territorial and a brute machine of beating towards other L's and toward each other.
Its a must lots of hidding places.

Once you can see both fish in real life at a grown stage you will notice the difference in size, color and bodyshape.
Your completely right i just love my gang (8 of all sizes) of L204. Theres no doubt whos who :)

INXS - 204 and L-104 (panaque maccus) are distinctly different IME L-204 gets bigger , more elongated, stronger contrast between the dark and light and appears slimmer then the panaque maccus which tends to look like a tadpole as it fattens up and matures. They get there lyra tail very soon, i've got one who is about 5cm and already got the long end tail the problem is that outher fishes tend to see it as a worm and bitte it. :evil:

the one with the biggest fin, there size are bigger then my smallest L204

I have 6 of them 3 about 13 cm, 2 between 10 and 1 about 8 cm

Got probably 3 females (2 are certain, now :D ) 1 is growing

Why do we put so much time and effort into trying to determine the sex of these catfish! I don't think i have ever heard of a reported spawing of a panaqolus species YET. Sorry to put a downer on the subject. Has anyone had any luck or read this on the web anywhere? Sorry to know you think that way ...
