Re: REPASHY, i keep seeing this pop up
I feed Soilent green, 50/50 mix of morning wood and super green - very popular with everyone. There were two new flavours available at Catcon: Power-up and Fruutluups, the power-up is a zebra and leporacanthicus favourite while fruutluups is popular with everyone.

Re: Water changes
I agree about the Apex, it may not be as common in FW tanks as for SW and seemed like an expensive investment initially but it is the best investment I have made to help maintain stability in the tank. In addition to monitoring tank parameters, AWC, auto-dosing and controlling equipment it has some ...

Re: Synindotis hybrid ID?
I have two of these guys, they're about 2 years old and have grown to ~7" SL They have a great personality and get along very well with even small cories and loaches. They haven't had any interest in shrimp or snails. They are quite shy though and appreciate a cave or two.

Potential L002?
Hi Everyone,
I saw this guy at a public aquarium yesterday in an Amazonian exhibit and was curious what it could be. I was thinking it looks similar to an L002 - potentially?

Thank you both for your replies! :d I gave him an epsom salt bath yesterday (15min) - he did not enjoy it, was swimming around struggling the whole time, but today his colouration seems back to normal and he's hanging out in his usual spots a rock cave and amongst the java fern. I can't tell if his ...

Syno nigriventris - odd behaviour
Hi Everyone, I recently adopted a Syno nigriventris who had been doing well for the past two weeks or so but today has started showing odd behaviour where it is swimming around at the top of the tank in daylight with the lights on. Or just 'floating' at the top in one of the corners. It's belly ...

Re: Thinking of investing in a RO
I use an RO unit because in the part of Montreal where I live the quality of the water is very inconsistent. It happened to me twice where after a regular water change 1/3 of my fish died overnight (I used the same dechlorinator as usual and tried to match the temp)and then came bouts of illness ...

Re: What Corys do I have? I need to move them on.
I found the same that the pea puffers are attracted to nipping cory fins. I had to put my pea puffer in a floating net temporarily for about a week in the community tank when the filter to his tank broke down. When he would escape the only fish he nipped at were the corys (primarily the orange laser ...

reducing frequency of BN spawning
Hi Everyone, When my BN started spawning in April of this year it was very exciting :d Naively I thought it would be a one-off event or maybe just a few times a year keeping the growout of the fry manageable. However, they have been spawning nearly non-stop, there are constantly new fry emerging ...

Do you have the Repashy gel in 'meat pie' flavour? even my pickiest fish who need a meaty diet couldn't resist that and they've taken to it more than other foods I've offered. I've also seen them grazing on the 'soilent green' flavour as well on occasion.

Thanks for the comments!! I'll try the water change, with new and main tank water. The filter sponges come from a cycled tank, but I also added extra bacteria. The original water was from the large tank but subsequent water changes have been with dechlorinated tap water - with 10-20% per day there ...

Re: Treating ich in tank with my Oil Cat
I have used the liquid version of API Super Ich Cure at half strength with corydoras and synodontis as well as various plecos (and two types of loaches) in the tank when my tetras showed ich and they were all fine. I keep this tank at 80F and did not raise the temperature during the treatment. The ...

Hi Everyone, My BNs have begun spawning on a fairly regular basis, the largest fry from the first spawn are about half an inch to 3/4 inch long and the youngest just left the cave. Ancistrus fry disputes
Hi Everyone, The fry from the first time my BNs spawned are nearly 8 weeks old. Recently I've noticed that some of the larger fry have been getting into what look like territorial disputes. The adult BNs are very peaceful so I'm a bit surprised that the fry are acting this way at such a young age. I ...

Re: How to make RO/DI water safe for plecos?
If you have plants in your tank Seachem's Equilibrium would be a better option than Replenish. To raise your KH though you'd need something like the Akaline buffer (with possible addition of the acid buffer) if you notice your pH is raised. I used these options for a couple years since our tap water ...

Green zucchini has been a favorite of all my BNs, royal and L092 (they didn't take to the yellow zucchini). If they are given organic zucchini they'll eat the entire piece (skin and all) overnight, with the regular pieces they leave the skin behind. Recently my royal has really enjoyed sweet potato ...

Hi Everyone, I'm planning on moving some of my fish on the weekend to a new (75G) tank. The filters would move too, as well as the rocks, wood and plants but there is new sand. I've been using the Cobalt Neotherm heaters. They're very slim and I found they keep the water at a more constant temperature (less than 1 deg) variation than the glass ones.
