I have a fairly large common plecostomus that occasionally will quickly swim to the surface of the tank, then dash back to his darkened hiding spot. Is this normal behavior? Is he surfacing to get a gulp of air? Any thoughts are much appreciated!

About 20 years ago I owned a chaca chaca frogmouth. I now live in the Chicago suburbs and can't find one. Are these still sold to the public for aquariums? Any help is super appreciated! Rodger
