Correct me if I'm wrong, but only males will get territorial right?
I know Ancistrus males are often extremely territorial, and now peckoltia's,
but I have never kept Hypans before. Are they generally just as quick to violence?
Also, if I am vigilant with water changes every two-3 days that would ...

Re: L134/L66 stock level advice needed!
Thank you for your reply. I was hoping that since they are all Juvies at about 1.5 - 2 inches that I could get away with it for like 6 months until I can get a fourth tank set up :\
I could possibly put the 6 Ancistrus in my 30 gallon. It only has a candy stripe and 2 Cory's in terms of bottom ...

L134/L66 stock level advice needed!
I currently have 8 L134's and 6 longfin calico Ancistrus in my 60 gallon, 4 ft tank with Fluval 406 external filtration. I am thinking of adding some hypans (L066) to the tank. How many do you think I can safely add to this stock level? All fish are juvies atm, around 2". Thank you very much for the ...

Re: Green Dragon Ancistrus breeding Q
This is a pic of the exact ones I'm considering. They have the light discoloration on the tail and dorsal it appears. I know it's hard because they are so young, but do these seem like true green dragons to you?

Well those pics are of juveniles. They darken up a bit and the white on the tail and dorsal fades a bit as they mature.

Re: Green Dragon Ancistrus breeding Q
Here is a few pics of them. I've always seen them called Ancistrus Sp. Green Dragon. Don't know if they are just a different strain of the reg bristlenose and would cross breed with calicos and super reds or they are a dif species. Seems that the consensus is that they will

Green Dragon Ancistrus breeding Q
Probably a stupid question but I'll ask it anyway... I know several varieties of Ancistrus will cross breed. (Calico/super red/albinos). My question is, will Green Dragons coss breed with the red marble longfins that I have? Thanks for answering dumb questions!

Re: Will my Q.Arabesque & K.Tiger juvies be okay??
From my own personal experience, I do not like to mix plecs with Cichlids. Many do keep them together successfully, but the aggression of cichlids always makes me nervous. You probably spent a good amount on those awesome fish, I would put them in a separate grow out tank. Just my opinion.

I would tend to disagree. Would they stay alive in there? Possibly, even most likely... However it's not healthy for them. You could live in a closet for a few weeks too if you HAD to, but it might not be the best thing for your health.

Re: L134, L333 breeding questions
I will double check on the diets. I do know that L183 like the warmer temps that would suit the other plecs. Also I believe, and I could be wrong, that they are found in the same general region of the amazon as the L134. I am setting this up as a loose tapajos biotope, so that might work. I was more ...

Thank you panaque. It's very interesting that yours spawned at 27! Everything that I have read says they need 82-84F for breeding. What type of setup are yours in? Did they breed with any other species in the tank or were they alone? What age did they first spawn? Are yours wild caught? The fish I ...

Re: Tank size for a L 333 group.
Are you planning on this being a species tank? If you are committing the tank to L-333 only then I see no problem with 8-10 pieces in it. It all depends on the sexes of the fish, as well as the number of separated areas within the tank. People say lots of different numbers in regards to the ...

Another question for the breeders out there! I am debating between getting wild caught L134 and F-1 fish to start this breeding project.
