Re: Breeding l411 Hypancistrus.

Ah, that is very obvious. Mine doesn't have that. Ive had the fish for 18 months now, so I assume if it is a male then it wouldn't need a female to bring them out? I only suggested that there may be a similarity between the two species as they are to my move eye quite similar accept the l260 striped ...

Re: Breeding l411 Hypancistrus.

Great, thanks guys. I'm not sure I'll get 4 more to be honest but maybe a couple. I've had a read through a few articles on Shane's world. One was for l260 Queen Arabesque which is a similar fish. There was in interesting part in that, that suggested that the females have white stomachs whereas the ...

Whiptail ID Confirmation

Hi, I've bought a couple of these this morning. Bought as Loricaria Sp. Rio Atabapo which looks about right to my novice eye. http://i1357.photobucket.com/albums/q757/bwarwicker/DSC_0884_zpsjce8jq7o.jpg I hadn't before this morning seen these guys, I've bought a possible pair. Have you consider Aspidoras'? These are Aspidoras Paucirodiatus. I can't comment on their hardiness however as I've only had my group since the weekend.

I'm also looking for some information on their diet? Am I correct in thinking Sturisoma require a higher content of protein in their diet compared to the likes of Farlowella etc?

Sturisoma ID

Hi all, I'm looking to get an ID on a Sturisoma I have just bought. I know they are Czech bred, LFS sold it as Panamense but I thought Aureum was more likely. The Black seems to cover a lot more of the Dorsal fish than the images on the species profile however - How much variance is there in ...

Hi all, I'm looking for some information on keeping these, my LFS has a few but I can't find a lot of information on them. I currently have no knowledge of them at all, my main questions are: 1. What tank size? 2. Tank mates? 3. How many should I get for them to be comfortable? 4. Water parameters ...

Set up for L411

Hi all. Today I have purchased a Hypancistrus L411, which in a few weeks I will be setting a tank up specifically around the requirements of this fish. I was just looking for some clues around tank furniture for these guys. Other stocking will be some Corydoras and Otocinclus. I was thinking a river ...

Re: Scleromystax genus.

Thanks for your reply Mark.

What is the minimum tank size for a pair of these? I have another tank which is 2ft and about 60l which would be available. I cant remember the exact dimensions. I may not keep them in the larger tank as I was planning on it running at 24/25C.

Cheers, Ben.

Scleromystax genus.

Hi all. I'm after some information about the suitability of keeping a pair of scleromystax, probably barbatus or kronei in with other south American cats, mostly Corydoras and either some sort of ancistrus or whiptail. The tank will by 2ft by 2ft about 150l or so. I've tried to read the cotm article ...

Ha very true. I wasnt sure if the females would want a choice, or more than 1 male to get her in the mood. I'll keep working on fattening them up. They may be a little bit small yet anyway.

Re: Corydoras Aeneus breeding.

No joy as of yet, the most recent additions aren't fat enough yet, and I suspect that it may be a group of 5 females and 1 male. What are the chances of them spawning still with the male out numbered?

Just a quick update, they are full of eggs so fingers crossed they'll spawn in the next day or so. Dopped the temp to 19c last night and will do again this evening. Cyclops seems to of done the trick.

I'm not really sure what the numbers mean to be honest. It's says degree Clark 3.78, Degrees German 3.024, and degrees French 5.4. What does all this mean? Hello all. I've been lingering around reading for a while but I thought I'd try and get some expert advice on breeding my Bronze Corys. I have a 2ft 60l tank, filtered with an air driven sponge, and also a fluval U2. PH is 6.8. Within the tank I have a piece of wood, some moss, and I also have some ...
