Re: Picture of The Most Beautiful Sailfin!!!
It has been almost a year. My beautiful girl is still in her 20-gallon aquarium with the same filtration, and she is now about 12 inches long. She is happy and healthy.

When I woke up this morning, I had a good laugh!
The first thing I saw this morning was my L001 lounging on her driftwood.
Centered just above her, hanging from an anacharis plant, was a ring of zucchini left from last night's dinner.
Like a trophy hanging on the wall over her couch!
I really wish I had a camera!

Re: Swim Bladder Disease - Julli Cory
For about a week one of my 4 corys has been suffering a bit of buoyancy issues. It's not consistent and he rests ok majority of the time but every now and then I spot him struggling to stay up right and doing a few spins about the tank. :-b This does not sound like swim bladder. Swim bladder is ...

Re: Swim Bladder Disease - Julli Cory
I wouldn't wait. It may not be swim bladder, it may be ich, velvet, or columnaris. It is hard to diagnose a fish disease. I would do a partial water-change using a gravel-vac siphon immediately; then, I would use Maracyn in combination with Maracyn 2. Be sure to add some extra aeration to help the ...

Hello everyone! First, I thank all of you for your great advice! ^:)^ Last night, Tuesday, I left the zucchini in the tank; this morning, I found that my girl will eat her vegetables! She left only the rind! Wednesday, I am slicing the zucchini lengthwise. She seems to like it that way. Thanks for ...

Thanks Mats! She has not discovered the zucchini yet, but it was the first night. I tried putting a wafer in the zucchini slices (2 slices) and left them overnight. She did not even find the wafers in the zucchini. These were round slices, I think I will try the elongated slice tonight. She is ...

Re: A few pictures of my Syndontis Nigriventris
Sorry about the quality of the pictures. I do not have a camera right now and I had to use my friend's camera. It just went up to Green Bay, WI. with my friend. I will get a better camera from my sister and, hopefully, take some better photos soon. These little USD cf are hard to photograph. If I ...

Thanks Suckermouth!
I will be feeding by the slice; however, the 1/2-inch cube gives me an idea of how much of a slice to feed her.
Don't they prefer to eat them in an elongated slice?
Thanks so much!

agree with above. And if you are concerned about bloat, don't give it too much protien/meaty/fish foods. Read the ingredients on the wafers as some have fish or shrimp in them. De-shelled peas once a week are great for cleaning them out and most love them . HTH Georgie Great! (She has no problem ...

My Jose (L001) is now 10 inches TL.Suckermouth wrote:Feed as much as gets eaten in about a day; if you're seeing food left over, then you're feeding too much.
As a starting point, would a 1/2-inch cube be about right?
I don't want to risk over-feeding, I really love this fish!
Thanks!

I really want to start feeding my Jose Zucchini; however, I am afraid of over-feeding her. How do I know how much is enough, and how much is too much? :-\ With algae wafers, I just give her one and wait a few hours until I give her another. I really need help to know how to safely feed her ...

^#(^ I agree that the pictures are not that great; however, I've had these gals (and guys) for more than eight months. Re: Picture of The Most Beautiful Sailfin!!!
Hello again Andy! Sometime within the next couple of months, she will get a larger aquarium. For now, her private 30-inch long, 20-gallon seems to provide her with plenty of room. Re: Undergravel filter with HOB filter for large Pleco?
CAM00121.jpg I also believe the more filtration, the better. The way I have these filters set up (as previously described) is working very well. Thanks for pointing that out... ...I'm still confused; none of these fish seem to have sail-fins as high and rounded as the sail-fin on my fish. Hi Richard! :-H Thanks for the clarification; I was not familiar with the differentiation between the currently accepted and scientific names of the varied fish of the Pterygoplichthys group. Re: Picture of The Most Beautiful Sailfin!!!
Thanks so much for your in-put! I'm thinking that she's a Pterygoplichthys Glytoperichthys, based on the fact that she has fourteen soft rays in her dorsal fin (I finally got a count) as well as the supraoccipital-ridge between her eyes and dorsal fin. I am waiting for a sunnier day to get better ...

I have used Seachem's ParaGuard at the full recommended dose, and (while keeping the temperature at a constant 80 F) did a 50% water change (using a gravel vac to clean the gravel) every-other day with success on sensitive cory catfish. Because the ParaGuard contains Malachite green, I got the best ...

Undergravel filter with HOB filter for large Pleco?
What do you think of an under-gravel filter used along with a (Fluval Aqua Clear) HOB filter for a large Pterygoplichthys? I've read pros and cons about the under-gravel filters; I do use a gravel vac and I keep up with the water changes. My goal is a happy and healthy environment for this beautiful ...
