Corydoras loxozonous
My Corydoras loxozonous have spawned, 2 days in a row. I have at least 200 eggs. No pictures but the eggs are very large and scattered throughout the tank. I had to pick them out of the Java moss and sieve them with a net from the bottom of the tank in the mulm. I have them in a net breeder inside a ...

Re: Black Ancistrus (?) with blue eyes?
As to the color of the "Ancistrus", try placing it into a white bucket for 24 hours. if it stays completely black and doesn't change color I would say you have a pure black strain, like mine. Brown Ancistrus change color based on there mood and can look black in unstressed surroundings, but stressed ...

I am not sure of what species they are, but one group has a forked tail and the other not, plus other traits that are similar, but not exact. This would mean they are not all the same species. I am sure with closer examination that would prove they are not the same species. Catfish have many traits ...

Hanging upside down for a catfish is normal. The rainbow is probably telling him this is his territory and he is the boss of the tank the Alpha rainbow. The other rainbows already know this so he doesn't display to them only to intruders into his territory. That is what it sounds like to me. Anyone ...

Sounds like you really know what you are doing, just need some encouragement from your fellow breeders to give you confidence. Raising any catfish takes practice, I think most of us agree with that. Keep up the good work they are good looking fish.

Here in the US most of the LFS are gone in favor of the chains. I still visit them all on a monthly basis to see if they have anything unusual. I am always looking for Corey's species and unusual catfish. I often see a lot of Corey's that I want and would on impulse buy them if I had the money. I ...

Jools, That's why I asked where Shane shipped his fish to in Florida, to see if I could track down the original line. To see what the breeder now has to say about the Ancistrus sp. Oh by the way I "do not " beleve in Hybridizing species it is un-natural and wrong! I "do" believe in letting natural gene mutations express themselves within a natural known species. I do not believe that Ancistrus species are crossbred with another species within the Ancistrus genus, but the ...

First I think you all are missing the point of the nameing of the varieties of Ancistrus sp. cirrhosus (BN). Yes they are varieties of a specific species, but all domestic animals are given names, and yes they are domestic animals because they are so easily, maipulated into the different forms ...

I know nothing about "Ancistrus ranunculus" I just made a guess because it has such a wide head. You said it was in a "found this pleco in a 2ndhand tank" so it made it sound like it was something you acquired from someone else. You mean you have a tank with a catfish in it that you put there and ...

Hey Mats you are wrong, about breaking aquarium glass! (Earlier Post) It is very easy to break an aquarium glass.
