I know this is my old thread but I thought i'd update and get some advice! Sold most of my fish i had to move. I have one heteropneutes fossilis now a new one only one i could find. Getting a pair of these bad boys 4" in a couple weeks gonna go into a 75 gallon which is bare right now but has been running for about 8 months with diy 50g sump (mag 9.5 pump) been using it to hold shiners/suckers for fishing/feeding. so i went to a pet store in another town and they had all these different cats in one tank but all sold as pictus for $3 big one $6, i noticed that they were different and picked up 3 small ones and ol big. My Hora's (i have 6 of them) definitely have a pecking order and you sometimes see them in a dominance battle. Battle is a strong word, it's more of twisting around each other and then usually one swims away, and turns and it starts over. Weird thing is, they prefer to be in each others company ...

Thanks so much for sharing. Congrats on the new cats. I'm about to order some Malawi Synos from Wet Spot & was hesitant. not necessary getting another cat but have to house my buddies mystus bocourti, hi fin mystus about 5", while he moves could he go into tank with bagroides melapterus harlequin lancer? would there be aggression or should i house him in another tank? thanks

I really like the Harlequin lancer cat. Would like to get one someday myself. Glad the mottled is doing well in brackish. the harlequin is very solitary so far whereas the rest all jam under the same piece of driftwood except the churros hes planted himself in front of the powerhead with his mouth ...

What is the footprint for your 90 gallon tank? Your current stocking, when adult, will vastly exceed the requirements of a 6x2 foot tank without any new additions. of the fish you are getting then the Platystacus cotylephorus & breitensteinia insignis may suffer as they do not compete well for food ...

I have not had problems per se but based on size/body shape of the banjo cats vs the sun cats [and especially the gulpers],* I think you will have problems down the road. How soon, I can't say.
