Bumblebee catfish, South American?

Picked up two of these guys today from the store, from what I can tell it looks like they're SA Bumblebee but I wanted a second opinion

Re: Whiptail information

Its a little roughish, I wouldn't say too much of it is sharp. Do you think a mixture of that and black/fine sand would work? I have playsand in my other tanks and its the same feeling almost as the black sand this company sells. I'm planning for a large 75gallon livebearer tank but I wanted to be ...

Re: Whiptail information

The bag I haven't used says its 0.5-2mm or so, but I might use finer then that. My main tank is all sand but its already pretty full

Whiptail information

I was at the LFS and I saw a few Whiptail catfish left in one of their tanks, I did a quick search on my phone but couldnt find much info besides for being peaceful and lots of different species. Unfortunately I didnt take a picture so I cant have them identified but I was wondering if what I read ...

Re: dark spotted catfish ID needed

I'm prepared for that size, I originally wanted Jaguar and they get the same size as well. Right now they are barely an inch and a half in size and in a 50g tank with a red tail shark, so just the 4 fish. In a few months they will be upgraded to a larger one to suit them when they're older. Will ...

dark spotted catfish ID needed

I picked up three of these guys at my LFS, they were titled "Jaguar Catfish" but it looks nothing like the ones you can google. It doesn't look like a false Jaguar either. These might be a little blurry but they're the best example photos I have right now. Unless they're juveniles or something but ...

Re: Platydoras armatulus living with Liosomadoras oncinus

I forgot about their spiky sides, but I was just looking for info like if I should adjust their hiding spots as they get older or keep them large when they're small so they grow into them. I know they take a long time to grow so I have probably 8 months if I have them in a "temp" tank to worry about ...

Re: Platydoras armatulus living with Liosomadoras oncinus

A 4 foot 70g tank will really be big enough for 4 fish that get ~8-9 inches each? Figured I would have needed more then that. Its just an idea I wanted to try I only have the one Platydora in with my Pictus but I wanted to try a larger fish tank. I haven't read anything about the Platydoras being a ...

Platydoras armatulus living with Liosomadoras oncinus

So, Right now I have a Striped Raphael in my 70g tank with my Pictus but I love the idea of having some larger catfish and hand feeding them like I've seen videos of people doing it. My question was this: I know Striped Raphael are somewhat territorial while Jaguar catfish are known to be ...

Re: Pimelodus pictus in a 70 gallon

Thanks for the info. I got him two friends yesterday and he's just hiding in the corner instead of swimming around the tank like he used to. I'm working on cycling their 70 gallon as quickly as I can so they will have room to spare and find their own homes. These three were all that I could find ...

Re: Pimelodus pictus in a 70 gallon

I guess I shouldnt have used the term overstock, im not sure if it technically is or not because I know they dont produce as much waste as a pleco, and a few five inch fish in a 48 inch long tank is enough room to swim and play. I just wanted something else for when they're hiding. I'll look up ...

Re: Pimelodus pictus in a 70 gallon

I was planning on doing 6 or so for that tank, Im just wondering what else I could put in there thats big enough they wont eat, and make the tank look decent when/if the pictus decide to hide in the caves. I know they need the room to swim around, and my filter will be able to handle the bioload ...

Pimelodus pictus in a 70 gallon

Right now I have a Pictus and a Platydoras armatulus ( Striped Raphael ) in my 20 gallon while they're babies. I had another Pictus and they swam around all day chasing each other but he died not long ago. I have the chance of getting a 70 gallon tank for pretty cheap and I want him to have some ...
