Fish Being Sold on Aquabid and ebay as a New Fish called "yellow phantom pleco"

Sick albino bristlenose
I have a friend who brought me his male albino bristlenose that was lethargic. I put it in a bare 20 long with some caves by itself and a seasoned filter. It would still swim some but wouldn't run from a hand or net. Well last night I noticed he was curled in a strange position, it would still move ...

Re: Help IDing this pleco
It might be the L050, why do you think it is that one? I was also thinking it kinda looked like an L166. If you look at the caudal fin, Hypostomus carinatus has a dark lower lobe, while L050 has a dark distal margin, like your fish. ok let me make sure I've got it right by translating it to layman ...

Re: Can you tan a pleco?
As stated I don’t think it would have an impact on bottom dwellers but I could see it having an effect on a topwater species like hatchets or aros. I would imagine the wet vs dry season would also effect the clarity of the water and thus the amount of uva and uvb rays that could penetrate and a ...

Re: Can you tan a pleco?
Color me skeptical. I am not sure I would trust that article. I spent a little time looking into UVa and UVb rays and fish. Here is a quote from a CNN piece on sunlight: Myth #3: Sun can't penetrate through windows. Reality: Glass filters out only one kind of radiation -- UVB rays. But UVA rays ...

Re: Can you tan a pleco?
Further, UV will be adsorbed by water. I did not follow the link, but using UV for waterborne creatures is a waste of energy and thus money The link was saying that UV penetrates a couple feet of water but not glass so they actually make submersible UV lights. This practice is apparently something ...

Re: Can you tan a pleco?
Plecos live hidden in their caves almost all the time ! They dont like light - its unnatural to them to be exposed to light ! This may cause them stress or maybe even death. So i dont think its good idea to expose them to UV rays. I wasn't planning on actually doing this because of the stress it ...

Can you tan a pleco?
I was watching King of DIY earlier and he was talking about using UVa and UVb tanning lights to bring out the red in asian arowana. This got me wondering if you could do this to bring out the red in some plecos like an L137? Here is an article I found describing how it works https://aquamistglobal ...

Re: l27 and blue phantom not eating
I would give it a little more time until recently I hadn't noticed my L027 or L190 eating the cucumber but they obviously have been since they have grown in the last 6 months. Also the Blue phantom I got last friday is still trying to figure out where he fits in and I haven't seen him eat either

Hey Kenjarle why don't you post some pics I saw pics of your Hypostomus Le Kourou in your post and would love to see the rest of yours. Is there a reason you are collecting all these Hypotomus other than just loving the group?

Re: L137 coloration
yeah the problem I'm having at the moment is the larger plecos I added have destroyed all the java moss and are now taking out the frogbit causing the annoying duckweed to take over so you can always tell when i've done anything in the tank because my arms have duckweed all over them

Re: L137 coloration
I've done sweet potatoes before and none of the plecos seemed interested but that's been awhile and I've gotten I've gotten a couple more large plecos that are voracious eaters so I'll try again. One thing that may be affecting his fin color is the tank is a little dim since I have bichirs, eels ...
