Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James! the tank is there and temporarily set up (we move again in October).. but since i have to leave the country for 3-4 months i decided to put the fish from my much smaller tank in there so it will be easier for my wife to take care of them in my absence. Because of the moving i decided to ...

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James, interesting with information, though a pity that they never told you if the eggs/fry made it. 48 wigglers.. that's a good amount.. what was the maximum you ever had? 8-} I'm planning to go a little bit over the top with the tank project but i still need to find out how much weight the ...

Your Otocinclus story is simply amazing!
I wonder: Do the otocinclus that you sell/give away also continue to reproduce in other tanks?

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James, did I understand it correctly that you keep one spare tank running for the fry and get the parents out? I was thinking i could get a bigger tank and then instead of getting the fish out i would just insert a pvc wall with small holes so the fry can go wherever they want but the parents ...

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James, yes the plan would be Otocinclus alsmost only.. i was thinking about O. Vittatus. I might transfer one female Ancistrus spec that i couldnt give up on when i sold my 300L tank.. after all she was my first fish and is now sitting in a community tank with Chlamydogobius Eremius which is ...

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James,
thanks for sharing your mistake, so we can learn from it! At the moment it seems like my personal otocinclus project is pushed far back.. cause the new flat is out of sight and so is the space for new tanks. But of course this doesn't stop me from following your thread with big interest!

So 10 days after hatching they go for the zucchini! Good news! I guess that makes feeding them a bit more comfortable.
I wish you and your oto fry happy x-mas and hope they all slide well into the new year!

is there another critical mark after the 48h mark? Or is it now very likely that all of them are going to make it?

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
you are right James! Keep em coming!
So you put the spirulina powder(?) in a dosing dropper and do a couple of drops in the tank? Or how does it work? How do you ensure that they find the food?
Cheers,
Philip

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Thanks for the explanation. I first thought it was with hightech filter, co2 computer, light computer etc. Since i recently switched countries from germany to romania i also had to get used to checking my water values frequently. We are not connected to a "water company" (and even if there is no ...

Re: Otocinclus Breeding
Hey James, good to read from you more often! I'm curious about your tank setups. Are those 2 that you have listed here still up to date? What exactly do you mean when you talk about your hightech tank? (What is the equipment?) Would a low tech tank be: light, heater, hamburgermattenfilter? Would ...

Hey James! ^:)^ thanks for coming back with updates, I really like to read your success story! I mean even if you don't take care of them as you used to, they still spawn. Thanks for the replies! http://www.planetcatfish.com/images/full(r)/aspredinidae/bunocephalus/colombianus/3.jpg That picture convinced me. Bunocephalus colombianus?
Hey Catologists, i need some help identifying my Banjo. (The picture is "shopped" to get more details of this beautiful fish!) I wish i could provide more pictures from different angles but i am afraid that this is the only good one i have. From a first comparison i'd say it's a Bunocephalus ...

Re: 270L Cube: Hara Minuscula, Shrimps, +X?
Thanks for all the replies. The ebay auction was a total failure.. the tank was awfully scratched and the furniture had heavy waterdamage. So i resold it asap and tried to forget about that horrible 10hrs drive. On top of that my dealers and importers could not find me any further Hara Minuscula ...

Re: 270L Cube: Hara Minuscula, Shrimps, +X?
(*) Thanks everyone the answers! I plan to keep the tank room heated. Means now in April around 22°C with drops till around 18°C at night. I don't mind if the shrimps get eaten as long as the population is stable. If there are too many upcoming i will put them in the other tank where i am sure that t ...

270L Cube: Hara Minuscula, Shrimps, +X?
Hey Catters, i just scoped a scubacube 270 (65x65x65cm) from ebay for arround 100€ which seems like a steal! The only place where i could put it is the place of the old 60L tank. In this tank there is currently just one Hara Minuscula and couple of Shrimps. So the Hara and the Shrimps will d ...
