Jippo, can you please tell me how fast it grew, what you've been feeding it (besides the tetra's/buffei :d ) and how big it is nowaday's.

fish i've got in this tank:
S.alberti 4
S.flavitaeniatus 7
N.macrostoma 2
Schilbe spp 9
D.sexfasciatus

they all are bigger than this new little monster which is ...

the biggest one is about 20 cm's and they aren't shy at all, they are a perfect replacement for the tetra's.

they're constantly moving and like the given strong current.

and it's amazing how much they can eat!

new fish'arrived last week.

8 Schilbe grenfelli and another one of which i don't know what it is (mystus?). photo's will come later because help is needed on this one.

and a single chrysichthys ornatus was bought today.

the last one died yesterday leaving 1 brycinus only.

but that wasn't the question. "skittish" i had to look this one up :-$

they were never shy, nervous or what so ever.
nothing to be mentioned here but every time i noticed a wound the fish died within a couple of days. over and over again ...

the cats and nanno's are doing just fine,not to mention the tetras, one of each is left only.
another group is something for later when the new (bigger) tank is ready.

i bought a couple of steatocranus casuarius 2 weeks ago and enjoying their clownesk behavior. i was a bit worried after ...

yesterday a second notoglanidium macrostoma was added to the tank, a give-away fromthe local pet shop. hoping it'll be (more or less)accepted by the bigger one.

luckally there is lots of hiding places.

the chapter congo tetras is nearly finished, 2 out of 4 are pretty bad now leaving one brycinus ...

that's funny.
-my group contained mostly males too
-the first one died here was also a female (after swimming around with a massive infection, looking back í should've noticed she was already poorly when taken from the lfs
-and once they're infected there's no way back

after both the tetras had some serious infections (lost quite a few) all fish went on quarantaine and medication.

in the mean while i had time to re-decorate the tank.

i'm from '75 and this book comes from about 4 years later.
i remember my old man (who still owns it)covered the names underneath the pictures and i had to tell the name of the fish shown, i think i was 8 years ...

the so called fence i build was not good enough, ever since the oldest one loved to climb it :-O there was no excuse anymore.

ones the youngsters (2 and 4) are able to swim i'll dug out the sand and start up a new pond. all is boring but playfull grass now.

in france i caught it by accident landing a big carp and brought this one to my koi pond.

when caught it was 11cm's only and here it was grown 5 times it's size ...

i've got some V.spiralis, eleocharis and pistias on the surface and never caught them nipping bits off. all what's green seems to be left alone so far. fish are adults btw.

unfortunately the decoras might have to leave due to feeding competition with the quite shy alberti i just got last night. time will tell.

well i think they did, i was there today to pick up 7 S.flavitaeniata and a single decora to complete my own group (got 5 now) and noticed a couple.

they were called trachyglanis sp.and were red'ish as shown earlier this thread.

@november: there must be some delay then, I had an information, that the westie-import incoming on the 2.11. Do you know, if they sell direct after the arrival, without acclimatizing the fish?
