How to make RO/DI water safe for plecos?

Until now, I have been using a R/O filter given to me by a friend for my L046 zebra tank water. I would add Replenish, by SeaChem, to replace the minerals removed by the RO filter. I've bought a RO/DI filter and was wondering if Replenish is good enough for the addition of a DI filter? I've never ...

Everyone was visibly clear by the end of the day on April 3. When should I stop treating them?

Re: mega clown w/white spot

The male is all clear today and I assume the eggs he is fanning have hatched because one escaped, so I put it in a tumbler. The female still has a few spots on her but she is looking much better. Thanks for all your help.

Re: mega clown w/white spot

Thanks all, I already keep the temp at 86 and was warned not to use salt with the quickcure treatment. I already tried the salt/heat method but that didnt seem to solve the problem. The male, in the pic., seems to have improved since last night. Ill keep you posted.

Re: mega clown w/white spot

Thanks for your responses. The instructions on the quick cure seem to suggest to treat for three days and, of not cured, treat for another three days. Would you say a "full treatment course" is 3 or 6 days?

mega clown w/white spot

I am having difficulty beating a white spot problem on my mega clown plecos. I recently lost my zebra and queen arabesque plecos to this same illness and have been treating the mega clowns for three days now with Quick Cure-a formalin malachite green medication- 1 drop per gallon daily. The spots ...

Re: Queen arabesque deaths

Does anyone have suggestions on how to treat the tank I had all the deaths in. I don't want to destroy the biological filtration that I already have, but I also dont want to harbor any parasites. Can I just let the bad things cycle out and, if so, how long should I let the tank stay without any fish?

Re: Queen arabesque deaths

Thanks for the response.
Ammonia is 0-.25 ppm
Nitrite is 0
I started using metro + by hikari. Is it ok to just switch from this to formalin/malachite green. If I switch, what temp should I keep them at during treatment and should I keep adding salt as you stated in the zebrapleco.com forum?

Re: Queen arabesque deaths

Their sudden deaths(4 within 2 hours) led me to assume it was something I unknowingly did and the plant sap is the only "chemical" I could come up with. I did a 25%(50ro/50tap) water change yesterday and added a corner filter filled with carbon. I also did another 25% waterchange today. About a week ...

Re: Queen arabesque deaths

Sorry. I didn't realize the sap from the plant had dropped onto the lid till after the queens died. Then I realized it when I looked at the lid closely. I've since removed the plant. It's a bare bottom 40 g long subdivided by a plexi divider. Queens on one side and zebras on the other. No other tank ...

Queen arabesque deaths

I have 4 zebra juveniles and 4 queen arabesque juveniles with plenty of hiding spots in a 40g long with a corner filter, a #5 sponge and an eheim professional 3 ( for up to 65g). Today, I was putting in a wooden bubbler and everyone was active and ok. 2 hrs later all 4 queen arabesque were dead. The ...

Re: Dither fish for L046 and L260

Twotankamin, do you think it'll be ok to grow out the four L046 and the four L260's in the same tank? Both species are both approx 2". If so, when should I separate them?

Dither fish for L046 and L260

I was curious if anyone has kept dither fish with the zebra and queen arabesque plecos and which is recommended? I am thinking of buying a pair of longfin L144 but was wondering if it b better to buy a trio. Will the male raise one batch at a time or breed with both females as he's watching wigglers?
