Sure looks like some kind of leech to me too. Know what, on closer examination, I noticed more of those disgusting worms around the teeth area again. This time the worms are about 2mm size. Likewise as before, I used a pincer to remove all that my naked eye can see. Some of it is too small to remove ...

Hi, I've read many times from different articles to provide strong water movement to certain L numbers like the one mentioned here, A.adonis. My question is how does the strong water movement actually benefit the fish. (Besides just creating more aeration and simulating it's natural habitat.) Thank ...

Help please! Bloated stomach
Hi, I've just bought a L14 and added it into a quarantaine tank. The Q tank has a L25 in it also under Q for about a week already. 1 day later, the L25's stomach became bloated and started to "float". :( The newly introduced L14 seems quite OK though. What has happened? What should I do now, any ...

Hi pooks, Sorry to hear about your loss. Your case is but just another case where the fish appears pretty normal at first and just dies for no apparent reason. I think this is very common in the keeping of L fishes. I've also noted that often only the fish in question is affected while the others in ...

Panaque Question
Hi, Is Panaques known in the hobby to be a particularly difficult to keep species. It so happens that I haven't have much luck with them. I have quite a few species of Lori cats in my tank. It seems the Panaques are often the first to show signs of something is wrong. For no particular reason, they ...

Hi, I would suggest you moving it to a quarantine tank using as 50% water from the old tank so as not to stress it further. Check water parameters like ph, nitrte and ammonia level etc of main tank. No sign of disease is usually an indication of an internal problem. Medicate with internal parasite ...

Thanks so much for the inputs. There seems to be 2 schools of thought on whether WC fishes do carry parasites. Anyway, I think it's always saver to quarantine and 'deworm' them to be on the save side. I hope coelacanth can give us more insight into this topic (if he can dig out the article!). Also ...

Hi, Thks for the reply and noted your advise. I've always been under the impression that wild caught fishes carry parasites. Anyway, can you recommend any medication I should use if i need to. I read in another thread that royals are sensitive to certain medication as it kills their useful bacteria ...

Hi, I lost almost my entire poupulation of royals a few months back! Even till today, I have no idea what went wrong, seems to me they are the only ones affected as MOST of the other species in the same tank was not hit. The first sympton is slowdown in feeding and then sunken eyes and then it's ...

Deworming Method
Hi, I'm new here and would like to post my first question and hope anyone can share your experience. As we know most L cats are wild caught ie. they should have their gut loaded with parasites. Is it necessary to deworm them and how should one go about doing it. What medication and what is the ...
