l264 question
hi , I have an L264 . He is the only L in this 54g corner tank. Other fish are mostly rainbows . first question - I have found him sleeping under his wood(large piece of wood ) on his back. Is this normal, jeez I thought he was dead the first time I saw him/her doing that . second question - I have ...

Re: Questions questions unrelated!
clown loaches will clean your tank of every snail and some plecs will to , depends on the plec #-the meat eaters . It probably is not a good idea to mix L's and clowns loaches (if that is the kind you are thinking of getting) the clowns have blades by their eyes and when food gets dropped in , they ...

Re: How to prepare veggies for plecos?
well i meant the next week choose 2 different raw veggies and so on... I never put pre-cooked veggies in the tank, all raw ..but i do nuke the peas(they sink)in water for 1 minute , then gently squeeze the clear shell off and discard, just plop them in. They love them and peas keep them ''cleaned ...

Re: How to prepare veggies for plecos?
hi, like a few others, i use plastic clips with suction cups. I tied fishing line to them so I can just pull them out in the morning. They are sold in aquarium stores, very cheap - 2 for $3.00. As for food, yep, fresh , raw zucchini, deshelled peas, raw red bell peppers-skin down, spinach, sweet ...

Re: New L200 Stopped Eating
hi, first have you checked your water for amonia, nitrites or high nitrates ? What is your ph ? Did you ask the store where you got him what they fed him? That would certainly help. I had 2 blue phantoms, pretty much the same as your green one, food-wise . Mine NEVER touched sweet potato or any ...

hi, one thing to add , farlowellas are cool cats, but if you don't feed them they will starve to death. They will clean your tank ,however it is not enough to sustain them. They are very docile and won't fight for food. It is good that you have wood in the tank, as my farlowella rasps on it as well ...

Hi, can't answer you about aggression, depends how many you put in there and how many caves for them, but they CAN mate, no matter if you want them to or not..they are gonna do what comes naturally. Can you choose only L200's or only L128's ? just a note, they need high oxygen, so i keep my water ...

Re: compatible schooling fish to live with L-263
Hi, I keep rummy nose tetra in my L tank, but they are on the small size, but they always school in tight groups.Their red noses will tell you if your water is ok by dulling if there are certain problems. Diamond tetras school, but they also split up at times and can be bullies to other dither fish ...

hi, I ordered an L264 from another state. It will be shipped overnight in Dec. This thread got me wondering how long it takes for Chilodonella to show up on the fish ? hi, I don't feed my L's cucumber only because it breaks down faster in the tank , where as zucchini is somewhat harder inside and I know I can leave it in the tank easily for 10hrs while at work without coming home to water problems. Also, some L's will eat only the skin of the zucchini (my L128's ...

hi, sounds like a plan. I am not sure about whiptails, however anything that is mellow is what you are looking for ( same as me ) so they could be ok, just never had them. The setup sounds fine. Does he/she keep your tank clean ? I only feed mine 3x a week and she keeps everything clean on non ...

OOPS, sorry , i hit the send key and was not finished. So I give my farlo a piece of raw zucchini-no skin, 3 times a week. That way she still cleans the tank on the "between'' days. They also like wood, mine munches on it all the time. They are very timid and won't fight for food. That is why I feed ...

Re: Pleco with Bloat?
hard to tell from the pics , but if u think it is bloat, stop feeding the wafers and begin feeding de-shelled peas. It helps "clean" them out . I feed my L's peas a few times a month . Frozen, nuke in water for 1 minute, cool ,pinch outter clear shell off ,then drop in the tank near him. They sink ...

Re: If I feed my L001 Zucchini, how do I know what is too mu
hi, with veggies you really don't need to worry so much about overfeeding, it is your water that will suffer if you leave uneaten food in too long. Protien foods are more of a concern for certain plecs who's system can't handle so much protien and that is where the problems begin. Some plecs eat ...

Re: If I feed my L001 Zucchini, how do I know what is too mu
agree with above. And if you are concerned about bloat, don't give it too much protien/meaty/fish foods. Read the ingredients on the wafers as some have fish or shrimp in them. De-shelled peas once a week are great for cleaning them out and most love them . HTH

any thing or any new fish in the tank ? wc's, how often? have you tested your tap water ? enough air stones? If you've had him for 3 years, I imagine you have that covered. Tried de-shelled peas? he could be blocked-up. That is all I can think of atm. If nothing has changed recently, try the peas ...

ok, indeed, I see the necessity for getting him in the tank faster and out of the toxic water in the bag if it has been in there a while, and it was said 20 min to match the temp, but what about the ph? suppose there is a big difference in the ph in the bag to the tank ? Do you test for that ? just ...

that's what happens with plecs, we get bit by the bug and either have to maintain self control, or find room for more tanks. Ya know, chuck some furniture , etc
