Re: power filter with sand substrate
It's a Marineland Penguin 200 power filter; it says "for freshwater and marine" and is for up to a 50-gallon aquarium, which is what it's on.

power filter with sand substrate
I've been having problems with my power filter, I think because I converted to a sand substrate for the corys. Any advice? Is there a certain type of power filter I should get? We just bought this one in August. It's been making loud noises, and I just cleaned it. I'm cleaning the parts again, this ...

corys always hiding
When I had a 25-gallon aquarium, I used to see my corys swimming around. Since I moved up to a 50-gallon tank a few months ago, I never see the bronze corys. I see the peppered corys occasionally, but the bronze are always hiding. They must be coming out at night to eat. They are still alive; I saw ...

The pH is between 6.8 and 7.0; kh between 80 and 120 (judging from the color on a water test strip). Also I have java ferns. I previously had what I think was a common ...

pleco with corys?
I'm wondering if I should add a pleco to my community aquarium, which includes peppered and bronze corys. Will they compete too much for hiding places? What type of pleco would be best if any?

baby cories in community tank - what to do now?
I just got back from being out of town for a few days, and left the aquarium light off but the room light on. When we turned on the light, we have seen at least two baby cories, maybe half-inch long. (I went away for a long weekend in May, and we had one baby when we returned. It's grown up now. I ...
